Any place that sells stock looking exhaust manifold cover for the FP race manifold?

I'm interested in purchasing the FP race exhaust manifold, but it probably won't pass visual inspection if I have it on during a smog test. Do any vendors sell stock looking manifold covers for them? I know one vendor sells a very nice polished cover. I've already searched and wasn't able to find one. Thanks for the help in advance.

I've never seen a stock looking cover for the FP mani. What about having 2 bungs welded on the top of the manifold in the stock locations to bolt the stock cover on?

JMF sells an unpolished version, but a stock looking heat shield isn't really feasible.

It's like trying to hide an elephant with a tablecloth.

Oh man.. that made me laugh.

I was actually interested in a similar cover as well, but no matter what it's going to be obviously there and aftermarket looking. I do agree with "crimsondragon", however, I think a lot of people would be lazy to swap it out again. Those bottom nuts in-between the tubes are pretty annoying to reach.

Just buy the JmFab unpolished heatshield and get it painted black with high temp stuff that wont chip.

The inspectors are just going to see a black heatshield, there not going to take it off and see whats under it, and if they ask if its stock say no, its just a bigger heatshield and what can they do.

Why not just get a aftermarket one and say the same thing? Just wondering since I live where we don't have to smog at all.

find a garage, or a tunershop that does inspections, thats how i pass mine, i live in Massachusetts and the laws suck, i got straight piping from the downpipe to the hks exhaust, in this state, they like to make sure we have cats and a bunch of other stuff, and emissions stuff sucks too, most of the time they dont pop the hood here, unless its obvious its a tuned up car, so any local tuneupshop with a garage in the back does inspections and they usually pass everyone, thast how we get by it here

^^^^ I concur. If you REALLY wanted to, you could also buy an EVO III manifold instead.

...although I'm sure you're aware of these options LOL. There's probably a reason behind your preference towards the FP race manifold right?

I'd agree with that, but even left un painted, it doesn't look all that aftermarket IMO... I'm going to give it some time to get a little more weathered before I go painting it.

-Now if I can just find a better way to hide that Synapse BOV that sticks out like crazy... talk about hiding elephants under a tablecloth... Might as well have a big neon sign that says NOT STOCK HERE --->

Here's an idea. Take the stock exhaust heatshield and bend it to fit over the FP manifold. Then take some metal strap (found at hardware stores) and rivet/bolt some strap to the front of the manifold. Then run that back to the bolts on the exh manifold/head. Paint it all black for a stealthy look.

I thought making stuff look clean was harder than making it look dirty :p

Guess I won't be getting the FP race manifold. The rep that I spoke to at FP was rude about saying the group buy is over and the income tax sale for the manifold is also over. Trying to get a replacement manifold by Friday. Thanks for the suggestions guys!
