jdm parts

I have no information about them, but i would like to put some info in this thread for everyone to catch because the title is just "jdm" The info might explain why some people just stop listening at the mention of those three letters.

JDM is all hype, a lot of us get so sick of hearing about JDM this and JDM that, to the point where you might have better luck with a descriptive title to your post. One of the main forum rules is to make sure the title has info about what the question really is, so you might have better luck with a title like "anyone ever buy from ADvanceJDMparts?" Or just the title being "AdvncedJDMparts.com" might get you more views.

I haven't bought from them and honestly i just opened this link looking for a laugh because there's always some mythical magical JDM part that some one is trying to get, or their "friend has one". I hope you're not one of those people that thinks a JDM motor is any better than any other 6 or 7 bolt motor. I'm embarrassed to even say that my motor is a Japanese take out just because all of the mis-informed noobs or ricers that are always running around bragging and blabbing about JDM junk, our us junk is just the same in about every aspect, sure there's a good tranny ratio here and maybe a good flowing head or RWD setup that we can't get in the US, but we get a lot of stuff other countries don't get.

Sorry , I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but there's really nothing special about JDM parts except for the fact that some of them look cool. But a 6 bolt jdm motor is the same as a 6 bolt US motor. The main thing about Japanese stuff is they don't have highways like we do, so if you get a "50k mile motor" (like i did) it's going to be equal to about 75-100k mile us motor simply because there cars are beat from red light to red light their whole lives, and the reason we can get 50k mile motors from them is because that's the mileage at which they scrap most cars in japan because repair is very costly there and so are parts, so it's easier and cheaper to buy another vehicle when the one they're driving won't pass emissions or has been hit in an accident.

Here's an example of the difference in markets, but motorcycle related

In most eastern countries they can't even own the big 1000+cc motorcycles that they make and we ride, because their governments are weird about certain things most of them can't get a bike over 500cc's. But, they can get a 500cc 2-stroke that will smoke most 1000cc four stokes.

Where in the US, the good ol EPA is getting all our 2 strokes converted to 4 bangers with their lobbying and harassment of dirt bikes and their riders nationwide, by saying that 2 strokes are bad for the environment by a good margin compared to their 4 stroke counterparts, Washington scum takes some money from these people, change a few laws and all the sudden 3 stroke dirt bikes are fading faster than chalk on a rainy day. But in Thailand, there's 2-stroke bikes available at any dealership, brand new and better than ever.

it just depends on the area of the world you live in as to what is in your market, but japan surely is not putting race cars on lots for every Joe or Chang out there to buy and kill people with and get awful mileage.

I hope this clears some things up, if not for the OP but for some other people out there who'll read it, and again I'm not trying to be a dick about it, I'm just trying to point out some facts that more people should know before making them selves sound or look foolish in front of people that know better. I can't count the number of kids who come in the shop where we work on Porsches and stuff and they brag about the JDM part that makes their Honda as fast as a Ferrari 355 or Porsche 968. Because the old guys don't know if those parts are real or not, but me and the other DSM guy there just sit back and laugh at what crap these kids might actually believe... i hope most of it's just exaggerated bragging or making it up, because if the kids really believe half of what comes out of their mouths, I've got some great property for sale and all the special JDM parts they want if i was an ass enough to take their money without feeling like a bad about it :D

sorry i had no idea about the whole JDM deal. never really had a reason to know i guess :) but i see what you mean. i just wanted to know if it was ok to buy from them because they have some pretty good prices on stuff. but i see jdm is a sore issue for some. anyways thanks i learned something today

Never bought from there and never will. Despite it's name I've never heard of any of those manufacturer for engine parts. It looks like eBay material so don't rely on the name of the store. Just my 2 cent.

YOu may be able to get some good parts from there. I wasn't trying to sound like a dick earlier, i just want the info out there for everyone to see that JDM is mostly all hype so you shouldn't go out of your way and end up paying more for something that may not be any better than what you can get locally.

I keep trying to stress that i wasn't being rude because a lot of times on the net i sound liuke a straight a$$hole because i get to typing what's in my head not paying any mind to the fact that i'm just typing blunt to the point thoughts, so agian, sorry if i sound mean about jdm parts, but the whole "japan fiasco" really bugs me :D

Also like stated before they do get some cool looking stuff that may be worth paying a high price for to get the look you're after. I'm sorry if i don'thave any direct knowledge about the company in question, that's why i suggested titling a thread with their name in it so you may attract some one's attention who has bought there. Especilly if it was a bad experience then that name will stick out in their mind like a sore thumb and they'll be sure to put in their 2 cents. Good luck with what ever you decide, and if your experiences are good if you do go there, please post up so everyone else will know too.

turboglenn, you only sound like an A-hole because you are one ;)

The description given is quite adequate and in short JDM is a buzz word. Perhaps at one time some gearheads realized that some performance parts could be acquired cheaper in Japan than in the U.S. or ones that just weren't available here. The value of those items has decreased over time as more distributors jumped on the band wagon and now they claim just because it's from another country it must be better.

Use good judgment in all purchases and evaluate the distributor, as you are doing, and more importantly the manufacturer. A reliable company will provide reliable parts and sometimes it's worth the gamble with good prices. Apply your level of risk, and you should always be happy with the outcome. (I've been studying for a corporate finance final, can you tell?)

As for the site, there is listed an EVO8 big 16g, but it looks like it's backwards?! Looks like a pic from an EIII...

EDIT: And in the picture it's stamped with EVOIII. hmmmmm....

:mad:THERES ONE THING ABOUT JDM THAT I WANT, AND THATS THE 12 VALVE HEAD FOR THE 1.8SOHC ECLIPSES, EVERYTHING ELSE JDM IS JUNK

also ### u said about europe having smaller cc bikes but faster, its so true, i had a 92 yamaha xj600 us model and it was decent, then i got the british version with has a different name, i forgot its been over a year, about 100cc less and it was twice as fast, and the bike had about 45k miles, too bad the us model, i blew all the pistons, and the uk model i seized it, but sold both for the same price i bought them

I have no information about them, but i would like to put

Isn't the 12-valve just from the pickup and old galants?
Why not just go to the junkyard and pick up a head here? It's not like it was made much different, unless there was some special reason to. Business is business and making engines doesn't change much for country to country when they're making it for the same target.

Added note: I don't think they've even made any of the 12's since '89, so you'll be getting into some older parts.
