Ok, so i've read all the threads about 10 micron filters after the pump. I'm worried, maybe overly paranoid, about high fuel pressure and a paper element. I assume that if the companies list their pressures and flow rates, then they have been tested and the elements must hold out. Not to mention I change it every year. But the last thing I want to do is lunch a built motor all because of a fuel filter.....anyone want to sound off on this one?

Its a DD with over 20psi running on 93 octane. With my meth kit I'm looking for over 400 whp.

The only things you're really protecting with the post pump filter are the injectors. Anything large enough to damage the motor would be picked up in the sock before the pump.

You should be fine with the paper element. I'm running it on 25ish psi of boost. What kind of turbo are you running DD for 400 whp with 20 psi? Not that it cant be done...

Right now I've got an E3 16g ported, maxed out at like 22 psi on the pump gas. I'm throwing my methanol injection in this week and going to the dyno after I retune it. Hoping this will get me close. Otherwise, its time to call Forced Performance and get a new turbo kit.

On an engine with EFI, the rule of thumb has always been a coarse element before the pump and a fine element after the pump. The paper elements are fine. They are designed to work with high pressure EFI systems.

If you're still worried, then find a filter that has an element with a large amount of surface area, like this one: Allstar Performance

Right now I've got a Fram HPG1 canister. I called their tech desk and they said it will flow up to 90 GPH (like 320 lph) and up to 200 psi and its a 5 micron paper element wrapped in a steel 'cage.' They can't tell me what the pressure drop is tho. I'm just trying to eliminate possibilities for knocking even though my AFR are super rich....probably just phantom stuff or engine noise. DSM Link only shows like 5 degrees.

I couldnt see a slightly used filter causing enough pressure drop to start leaning out. Only an old filter could do that. Esp if you're running rich. Try taking the O2 out and cleaning it off and a boost leak cheack.
