I am trying to decide wich turbo. If any of you are running these please give me some input. Which is easier is more cost effecient and which is a quicker spooling turbo. Lastley I want the turbo on a stock motor but only while other motor is being built. I really want to see what the stock motor can take. all input welcome

I wouldnt put one of those on a stock motor under any circumstances, no sense potentially trashing a perfectly good core and leaving yourself stranded somewhere.

As for which one, what are your power goals? I have to admit I am sort of a Garrett fan once you get out of the MHI and PTE range so I would probably go with the 35R. Looks like the 3065 (Its just based off of a GT30R right?) is around a 550 whp turbo whereas the 35R is more like 650. If your plans are 500 or less I'd go with the 3065, but if you are looking for more than 500 I'd say 35R. What do you have for support mods? Those need to be taken care of before you should start worrying about a turbo.

support mods walbro 255, just got dsm link fmic, 780 injectors, 3inch turbo back exhaust no cat. greddy profecb original, act 2600 clutch, shepracing stage three tranny, just need fpr and the right manifold to mate to whatever turbo I choose. I don't mind blowing the core to he## and back b/c I have three plust the one thats being built. I just want to do that till the motor is finished for fun. I've seen the fp3052 on stock motor and low boost making mid 400 range. I want my finished product to be 550 ish.

im running the 3052 its a nice turbo great quality. To be honest it seems everyones stepping up to the 35r range. the 3052 is a 30r. my friend has a fwd he made 450whp with a similiar setup and dsmlink and the car had some tunning issues.its hard to say i guess its up to choice of course with a 35r the lags going to be greater unless a stroker is in the near future as well. i get full boost at about 3800rpm which i think is pretty fast. id say go with a 35r judging from your last post you got money to blow. and once you mod you dont stop even im thinking about when i can upgrade . thats my .2

The 3052 is a garret turbo, it just has a fp turbine housing strapped to it. As for the 3065 it is rated at 65lb/min which will support well over 500 whp. Hell, the 3052 has been pushed over 500whp on pump gas, and into the 9's, so i think they are capable turbos.

As for which one will spool faster, a 3052 will. Mine spools 26psi by 4100rpm, so it's not bad for a turbo of this size. I don't know what a 35R will spool at, but I imagine it's a little bit after that. So depending on what your goals are, will decide what turbo you want.

3052 for a quicker spooling turbo, that has less flow potential. Or a slower spooling 35R that has more flow potential. Depending on what setup you pick, will determine price. For the 3052, you know you will have to get a Tial 44, a v-band o2, and lines. For the 35R you will have more options, although you will have to get an external gate, you could mount it on your exhaust manifold or o2. You can get a different o2 housing if wanted, and other options. Anyway, good luck with your decision, either one will be a good time.

I've heard the 3065 is a bit laggy. Maybe even as laggy as the 35r? But if your going to go with a 35r then check out FP's 3582HTA. Buschur tested it on their evo against the standard 35r and it blew it out of the water. This is the turbo I'll be running on my fully built setup. Check out forcedperformance.com and look at the article on that turbo.
As far as the 3052, it's a great turbo for easy 500hp range. Flows quite well and spools extremely quick for it's size.

I run a Full Garrett gt35r and love it!! I used to run a 50trim and then went to the 35r which has a Garrett anti surge S cover the hotside has a t3 inlet and a 3" 4 bolt outlet and also is a .63 A/R and if your going to be doing a lot of street driving the .63 is the way to go since the .82 is going to be a little more laggy for a 2.0. the rest of the hardware I bought from Punishment Racing the header and the o2 housing is little pricy but well worth it in the end. From doing a 3rd gear pull the turbo is spooled to 20 psi by 4300 rpms and it pulls hard all the way to 8500 but your going to want to have ALL the supporting mods.

Thanks,
Andy Fangman

I would say 30R if its your daily driver, but for a track car go for the GT3582R at least.
Be it FP housing(mitsu) or T3/4 setup. The smaller housing is the way to go for a street car, you can always get the bigger housing later. Think of it this way, would you rather have a faster spooling 400awhp car, or a little laggy 4500rpm spooling 500awhp car?
Im a leadfoot but I like boost asap.

I am running the FP3052 and I love it. My car has the 7 bolt 4g63 with 95000 miles on it and I am running 25psi on 91oct and methanol. The car made 409whp/360lb-tq on a Mustang Dyno to all 4 wheels.

I am very very happy with the spool up as well, after owning 16 turbo cars I can say I hate turbolag and this turbo is not laggy at all, after I did my last mod(JMF manifold) my full boost(25psi) is at 3900-4000rpm.

I highly recommend this turbo(FP3052), it also bolts on to the stockmanifold and if I am not mistaking it is basically the turbo that makes the most power on pump gas.

3052 is a good turbo. I ran it for a season. If you're lookin to run it on a stock engine and get quick spool, then you would like it. Personally, I would skip right over it and go straight to the 35r. 3052 was fun for a while, but it lead me to wanting more right away. Turbo lag is way overrated.

it not turbo lag, its fore play ;) i have heard GREAT things about the FP3052... if and when i get some extra $$$ i'll be swapping from the FP green to the 3052... FP FTW! havent had any problems with the green (24psi on 93 oct for 24000 highway miles)

Honestly, I think you would be better off with a 3065 from fp. fp green and 3052 are pretty similar in spool and horsepower. Trust me, 3065 is a way better choice. I ran a 3082r in a t3 housing (basically a 3065), and it was a street/pump gas monster.

The only thing, if you decided to go with 35R, stick with 0.63 AR turbine. I read the other day on AMS forums and most of the time they use 0.63, which they say it is very efficient up top and must have on DD car. This opinion was expressed by thee president of AMS/ Martin I think, and they know a thing or two about GT 35R.

i'll look into the 3065 :thumb: THANKS! i'm pretty happy with the green but if i get some extra $$$ after i get my new GSX running right, i'll have a debate on my hands...
