Will 1G pistons fit on 2G connecting rods? The reason I'm asking is I have a set of Scat Rods, stock specs, and found a really good deal on a set of 1G Wiseco pistons. I know the pisotns have a 21mm pin diameter and the rods have a 22mm diameter, so is there a pin sleeve that will go in the rod to make up for the 1mm difference?

The wrist pin isn't the only difference. There is also the width at the small end of the rod. It's only 1/10th of an inch, but it may cause premature wear issue's. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about...

I think he is saying that he has 2g rods but found a deal on 1g pistons. I understand your point, but I dont think its an issue in this case.:thumb:

I see what you're saying. Since the 1G rod is slightly wider, then the piston has a wider opening to accept the wider rod (I assume). Hmmm, I'll have to think about this. It may be best just to get 2G pistons. Thanks!

How about going with 1g rods to match the 1g Weisco pistons and see if the 1g rods can bolt onto a 7 bolt crank, that way you have the benefit of the stronger rod as well.

you would need to machine the big end of the rod to fit the narrower journal. and if he has forged internals why would the 6bolt be stronger?WTF they are made from the same material..

If you are going to be building the motor just sell the 6 bolt rods and buy a set of 7 bolt one's. They aren't going to be any weaker and you won't have to do any machining to get parts to fit together. No use in boring the piston out to get the wrist pin to fit when you can just get the right set of rods for it. It just makes life a lot easier.

How much did you find the wiseco pistons for? Are they used?

But ya man I'd just find a set of 2g wiseco pistons if you already have the scat rods. The only 1g/2g parts I would interchange would be doing 2g pistons in a 6 bolt motor to up the compression a little cause the 6 bolt rods are strong as hell and can handle a good amount of power.

To clarify something, the Scat rods are 2G rods, not 1G. Also, the pistons are on Ebay and end in less than an hour. Right now they are $78, but the reserve isn't met, so they may not turn out to be such a great deal. Oh well, I'll keep looking for some new pistons. BTW, does anyone have any experience with Nippon pistons?

Nippon (NPR) are OEM Pistons.

Honestly im trying to help you if it comes off as a smart ass reply im sorry. Maybe its just me i would NEVER buy pistons off of ebay. These are your pistons!! the only way i would do it is if it was a brand name sealed in the box. I mean say one of these pistons has a invisible stress fracture in it, the piston cracks under pressure and a part comes flying off of the piston, now you got to replace your valves regrind your cylinder walls and get new pistons!!! its not worth the risk. if you cant afford good brand name pistons save your money.

No you don't come off as a smart ass. You have some very valid points. The pistons were Wiseco pistons, but were used.
