its a gasket that didnt come in our gasket set that we ordered...bastards.

you can get the valve cover gasket set at your local parts store. It should come with the gasket you need along with the valve cover gasket, and the gaskets for the area around the spark plug holes. They are fairly inexpensive as well. remember not to torque the VC bolts down too hard or you will strip out the head :(

edit : did not see that last part of your post. I am not sure you can order just that gasket. Sorry.

Those seals don't normally come with kits . Waht year , kind of motor ? 1g -2g , 6-7bolt . Should just be the camshaft seal .

If you have to you can buy the gasket material at your local parts store and cut one out for yourself. Its always nice to have some laying around for these types of situations. Happens to me all the time:mad: those "complete" kits have about 10 gaskets you don't need and are missing a couple you do need:mad:

ok well, im not sure exactly what i should get, i got almost all the gaskets i need in that kit except this one with i think is some type of o-ring ###...its an O. ill see if i can get pics up. and the other thing i need is a thermostat housing gasket...if there is such a thing??? well i might be goin to auto zone tomorrow so what exactly should i get. i dont think i need a valve cover gasket set thing.

whatever ill just get some better pics.

For 1g's they are different they need a cas o-ring

But for 2g's its different put a little bit of orange rtv all the way around that indent that you pointed out and bolt it on...let it dry and poof no leaks if you did it right....Please bolt the VC on first before you try to install the cas....

I spent a while looking for a solution

Also I hope you marked down the orrientation of the little metal thing inside of that...not sure of its name but you CAN install it wrong......could be 180 degrees out just like 1g's but their a little more tricky to put in...magnetic....

I'll try to find a pic for you

Found it

(1) Apply a 3 mm bead of form-in-place gasket (FIPG) to
the area shown.
Specified sealant:
Mitsubishi Genuine Part No. MD970389 or
equivalent.

Edit for some reason I cant upload the picture

wow now im worried i might install it wrong.so how exactly do you install it now, because i didnt mark anything on it. :sosad:

oh btw, i lost that black spacer thats goes by the injectors, i dropped all three, and only found 2. I spent a good 2 hours looking for it last night. so whats the next best thing to use?

The part of the cas that actually turns(the piece that goes in the cam) can be put on 180 degrees out. You will know if it is when you go to start it. There is a 50% chance it will be right the first time. If not just take it back off and turn that piece 180 degrees.

If you have the intake on there is no real place for them to go. Look under the intake where it makes the Uturn. They found some nook or cranny to hide in.

Good luck we have all chased them at some time or another:cry:

Be happy a local buddy around here allowed me to rip apart his completely bone stock virgin 98 gsx.....

Put that motor to TDC ripped off the 3 10mm bolts and this was the orrientation of that piece......Make sure that you put the intake cam on and then make sure its set so that the valves on #1 cylinder open....I'm sure you know what I mean if you time your motor....

The black plastic spacers or the o-rings where they touch the head?
If its the injector insulators (o-rings) at the head then here ya go.

If its the hard plastic spacer then here ya go...(you can get by with 2 for a little while, just don't tighten the bolts too much)

alright got the o-ring this morning. Going to put the intake cam on, put the valve cover on, install all my new tensioners and belts, reset the timimng and i should be good to go.....right?

so these came in my gasket set i ordered, but idk what they are for and where they go?

I seriously doubt that that o-ring will work...and that you will have a leak....If you look in the FSM again youll see that there isnt a rubber gasket for a 2g, it uses a sealant......

1g's have the gasket....not 2g's Hope you have extra oil handy....

And those 4 items are valve stem seals there should have been 16 in the kit if you bought 1
