ok, i had my clutch job done at fftec. a very reputable shop in california. my clutch started to slip about 300 miles after the break in. i also noticed that my clutch was engaing about 2 to 3 inches from the top. (bad) i adjusted and now it engages about half way.(decent) my question is do yoiu think the disc or any sufaces are toast? its been about 1000 miles.

just drive it and whatever happens, happens. case and point you bought a used part that is high wear part.... did you happen to see the clutch before it was put in? alot can behad in 10,000 miles...

ok, well took out the clutch today. thank god i did, the disc was toast! anyway im looking at the flywheel and it only really has heat marks on it, it just resurfaced about 1k miles ago, i dont think it needs to be resurfaced? any input...

I have a question for you. WHen you say it was slipping did it start slipping after say once the car was warm? did you ever smell fried clutch? If so i had the same problem and i'm willing to bet you had what is called "pump up" the person befroe me sold the car after he put two clutches in it cause he couldn't figure it out. If so then i doubt your clutch is hurt at all.

yea bro im perrty sure its pump up too. i just finished installing my new clutch today and it still slipping,, also my clutch is engaging like 2 inches from the top. i cant seem to lower the engagment point? how did you solve it?

on the ;rod adjustment; do i have to turn it clockwise ( looking at the steering wheel) to make my engagement closer to the floor? or counter clockwise? again im trying to avoid pump up.

Ok here is what you have to do. The upper adjuster needs to be unscrewed a bit. Unscrew it so that when the pedal is out it is barely pressing the button. After you do that you can adjust you lower adjuster to get your clutch to engage about half way. I think RRE has a how article on this and it tells you how to do it.

Im not familiar with pump up what is it exactly? I replaced my clutch in May and slips at high RPM's and getting worse, it cant be gone already can it? But it is an Ebay one stage 3 six puck

I highly doubt that you have pump up. It sounds like you just have a junk ebay clutch. When you expeirence pump up the clutch will start slipping more and more till it wont grab at all. The best way for me to describe this to you is: in the master cylinder there is a small hole that if the master cylinder isn't disengaged all the way it will start to build pressure. When this happens the pressure will build up causing the clutch not to engage, which causes it to slip, the pressure will then get so high that you clutch will not engage at all. It is all caused by the upper adjuster for the clutch, it doesn't let the clutch release all the way.
