I just got my crank back from being balanced and polished and I was wondering what do I need to do to install the main bearings and rod bearings? What precausions should i take to make sure I dont spin a bearing? is there a compound I need? Thanks

one thing that you need to do is when i went threw and tightened everything down i took a paint marker that you can get any where and mark the bolt when you torque that way your not second guessing your self! alot of people use different techniques to build there stuff when i assembled mine not knowing how long or how much time it would take i used some lucas oil its thick and is a great lube for the engine! One other thing that you need to look for is when installing the bearings make sure there all the way in snap sorta into place!!!! also if you removed your oilers make sure there tightened to the proper torque spec cause you loose one and you spun a bearing and get to do it all again good luck !!!!

Use Plasti-gauge on everything dry first to make sure the clearances are right. then use assembley lube.

Thanks Guys. The machine shop put the oilers in so they should be alright. What Weight of oil should I use as the lube? Should I lube the back sides of them or just the inners? Is there anything else I should know?

inside only. go to advanced and buy some assembly lube. It will come in a tube. heh. that rhymed....

yea go to any parts store and ask for engine assembly grease or oil and most all places should have somthin for you. There are a few different kinds but it doesnt really matter just make sure you use it.

also +1 on the plasti guage you can never be too carfull when it comes to building a lower end even if your stuff has just been checked out.

Awesome thanks guys. What im gonna do is put the thing together then take it back to the machine shop because he said I bring it back when I was done. and he would look over the bottom end and fix anything I need fixed free. so im gonna throw it together and let him do it. LOL jk:beatentodeath: but yea. Thanks Guys! apreciate it!

You are much braver than i because i am just paying the machine shop to build mine. But then again i have been through three engines in the last year.. So i want a done so i have a warranty.

What I NEVER do is set a deadline for your rebuild that will have you up untill 3 A.M. every night. Take your time once you start rushing you are going to forget stuff and over/under torque things, it will be a complete mess by the time you are done. Take your time, enjoy yourself, and besure to tell us how it goes.

Well Im not doing a stock Rebuild so The machine Shops around me wont put a warrenty on anything. I had them do the 2g piston 1g rod setup and a Balance Shaft Removal Kit. so They wont warrenty it.
