This is the description about the car...

Need Work 1993 Eagle Talon TSi All Wheel Drive Turbo, 128,000 miles. The body and interior are in excellent condition. I just spent $2000 replacing the top end of the engine and the timing belt, but now it has a knocking sound coming from the lower portion of the motor. The car will need to be repaired before it can be driven, so the engine does not throw a rod.

And That is what I know so far... I think this is a 7 bolt engine, right? So the claim that this has a replaced top end and timing belt, but bad bottom end... (I have to ask for more information. And I will come reply my own tread.) So if I put my 6 bolt bottom end to that 7 bolt top, would it work? or should I just put my 6 bolt in there?

Anymore suggestion what should I do? It sounds good to go AWD. Changing the bottom end or I just do a engine swap? would it be a lot of work? Should I rebuild it before I put it in? I had put something call XADO in there before, the engine only have 115000 on my engine. But before my car broke down, it has very little power, it was not pulling strong... and i don know why. It was weak but no noise... and it broke down because the fuel pump is not working.

Do 5spd and auto engine different?

or should I get a 169,000 miles 1994 Egale talon. with one of the piston cylinders was bad
It’s a 2.0 L, front wheel drive, automatic, am/fm cassette, a/c, power windows, sunroof. The interior is in good shape. for parts? which have no turbo...

Thanks for reading this tread!

go for the awd for sure. get more info on it. if you got it and the bottom end is bad just buy a good short block and throw it in. its not too hard at all if you have the tools and a little knoledge of the 4g63t setup. and yes it is a 7bolt

ok, the different between the 6 and 7 bolt is the head right?
the bottom part is the same?
or should I take out my 6 bolt and rebuild it and put it in the TSi AWD?

The head is the same, the crankshaft is different hence 7 bolt 92+ and 6 bolt 92-. An awd has a faster 60 foot time stock but I have seen many stock gst's catch up with awds, the AWD adds about 450 LBS I think. But still go with the AWD the other car probably has a worse engine and the AWD probably has a spun rod bearing.

So I can put a 6 bolt crankshaft to the new 7 bolt head? and put my bottom end on it?
since i take my bottom end out... do i need to rebuild it as well? or there is nothing i can do with the block...

please tell me more detail i can do before i buy that parts car...

The 7 bolt head will go on a 6 bolt block all you have to do is take a drill and bore out the holes on the head that the studs go through, 6 bolts have 12mm studs while 7 bolts have 11mm studs. The 6 bolt crankshaft will not mate up to the 7 bolt connecting rod. I advise that you swap your 90 laser engine into the Talon, the engines will mate perfectly to each others mounts and transmissions. The ecu will have to be swapped and the power transistors and coil need to be swapped also. The 7 bolt engine probably has a bad rod bearing and can be fixed but the 6 bolt engine is better.

I dono man... i know too little about cars...
this is my frist car... and i love it...
i love the style and engine...
and i love it because it is rare...
but i just don know what to do...
my rear axle is banded too...
so... anyone can come kansas and teach me more about DSM?

Yea def. go with the AWD. Rebuilding the motor is easy and the 6-bolts are def. stronger than the 7-bolts anyways:thumb:. Omce you get that bad boi up your goin to have a powerful car and put down times better thann a fwd talon (not saying fwd dsm's aren't good ### i've seen many that are fast) but IMO i favor the AWD better.:dsm:

My first DSM was a FWD 1g, and when i picked up my AWD 1g it was like night and day difference. Nothing worng with a FWD though, the reduced weight is awesome when you hit WOT at a roll.

Best thing about racing an AWD from a dead stop is that most of the time you dont have any traction problems. FWD tend to have tractions problems, but on a roll, the FWD tends to have a better advantage depending on which car has more power or who can really drive better. I still say go with the AWD tho:dsm:
