I've been reading and searching the forums trying to find the problem I've been having but can not find my exact problem anywhere..
I have a act 2600 street clutch with act flywheel was replaced about 7k ago

the other day when driving ( not beating on it ) i pushed in the clutch and went to shift gears, I could not get the car to go back into gear with out basically slamming the shifter into gear. after i did get it back into gear and i gave it gas and it would chatter bad so i backed off the gas and coasted it for a minute with the clutch pushed in. i revved it up "with clutch pedal pushed to floor" and the car started to pick up speed and did not chatter like it did when the clutch pedal was not depressed. i managed to get it home and decided to try to bleed the slave hoping that it was just something simple like that,, i did find some air in the system and the fluid was very nasty black,, so i replaced the master and slave and flushed the system with new fluid. I checked over the system with a friend and we checked the push rod which was pushing the fork to the point that we could not get anymore movement when when i tried to push it with a small prybar.. I started the car while up on the lift and found that nothing changed.. with the clutch pedal pushed down completely put into gear and tires still moved with considerable force. tried shifting through gears and wouldn't shift with out grinding... so I guess the trans is going to need to be dropped..
one other thing that i want to mention but am not sure if it is related or not is that when we were checking the movement of the fork i pushed in the clutch and heard a slight click noise about 3/4 the way to the floor but pedal kept going down with no problems.. pushed the pedal down two more times trying to find the noise and my s.s. clutch line blew out...... the noise never happened any other time than the last three time i pushed in the clutch before the line snapped.
I have several ideas of what it could be but i was hoping maybe someone with more experience on here might have some insight to my problem. I'm thinking possibly a throw out bearing,, or maybe a pressure plate issue, i will replace the pivot ball and fork when im in there no matter what it turns out to be..
thanks in advance for any help

I recently replaced a clutch fork on a friends 2G, the engagement point was like a 3puck and it chattered trying to slip it really slow.
Turns out it was a bent clutch fork. But when I compared both of them the only issue I saw was the slave rod had worn into it pretty far, maby 1/4" or more. After it was all back together it worked great.

have you tried putting it in reverse? theres no syncro there so if its really the clutch not disengaging it still wont. but if it does you have another issue, like chewed dogteeth, synro hub, synro sleeve, the actually gear. also the shift fork.

thanks guys I've tried to put it into reverse and it would only grind , i did'nt want to force it. im in the middle of droping every thing down now. so hopefully i'll know whats going on then..well see! thanks again,,, i'll post the results so anyone else with this problem might have some where to start.

Alright, sorry it took my so long to get back on here. after opening things up i found that my clutch disk springs had appearently sprung. a spring "broken" got stuck between the shift fork and the outter wall of the case. furthermore the shaft which the t.o.b. goes onto was flared out at the end and not allowing the t.o.b. to slid out. so needless to say I've replaced the act2600 with a new southbend obx fe ss full face clutch, replaced the clutch fork ,pivot ball,t.o.b and clip, installed new ss lines (old ones were showing signes of wear) I replaced the master as a precaution. the slave was replaced about 500 miles ago. I also took care of several other small problems,,leaks ect...but thats a whole different post in it's self. anyways the whole thing will be back up and running today so hopefully all goes well....Thanks again for the help.
