Ok, heres the deal, I bought a 97 GS N/T about 2 weeks ago. When I bought it the guy said it was in limp mode and needed a new TCM. So far I have replaced the INPUT and OUTPUT SENSORS. I opened up my TCM (behind center console) and there is a 1/2 inch thick gel covering the entire inside. The same goes for my ECM (engine compartment). So to be safe I bought a new TCM. After installing it the car is still in limp mode. I pulled the same OBD-II codes as before. (P0750, P0755, P0760). The area I live in doesnt have much in the area of mechanics. Most wont touch my car cause its a Mitsubishi. (too high tech for them I guess). I traced all of the wires myself and double checked all of the connections including the ones under the shifter. All looks to be good, but its still in limp mode. Any ideas as to what else could be wrong. Thanks

does the pcm and tcm have to reflashed to talk to each other first? im not sure if dsms are like that.

Thats what someone else mentioned to me today. They said that I might need to have the ECM reprogrammed. I thought that by disconnecting the battery it would reset the ECM back to factory settings. They said that I should take it to a mechanic that can fully reprogram the ECM but im affraid thats going to cost an arm and a leg.

The 2g n/t`s are the same as a neon. I had a Neon come into our shop with a similar problem, I think it had a blown fuse somewhere that affected the tcm. Check all your fuses inside the car & under the hood. I don`t remember which fuse it was, but check them all . . .

hmm i donno if its a fuse. maybe a fuse on a shift solenoid but then it wouldnt shift into gears not cause a limp mode. it would just chose 2nd gear and thats it

Ok, just finished tracing all the wires in the car. All wires and connections look good. I even put another set of input output sensors just in case I got a bad set. Still in limp mode. I am at a total loss right now. I only paid 1200 for the car and it looks brand new. Just hope i dont have to drop a few thousand in it just to get it to drive right.

OK just went and replaced the solenoid pack on the side of my tranny today with a new one, and still in limp mode. The only thing I havent done yet is change the tranny filter, cant see how that will cause limp mode though. Im at a total loss right now and running out of cash fast. Is there a relay or anything that could effect the tranny that doesnt have a label as to what it really controls.

Car is fixed. For all of those with limp mode problems there is a relay for the transmission that is attatched to the firewall just behind the battery (420A motors) on the relay pack there are three of them. the one to the far right is for the A/T it allows the main ECU to talk to the TCM. When this relay pops it can cause the TCM to short out or just cause the car to drop to LIMP MODE. Thanks to all those that tried to help.
