Would missing a manifold to turbo bolt cause a turbo to not spool up and make a wierd noise?

It wouldn't have a better hold compared to 4 bolts holding the turbo and the mani together but, if you torque the 3 out of 4 bolts, you wouldn't have a problem spooling or making noise because I have 3 out of 4 bolts because one of my bolts snapped! haha.

wait till your mani/turbo is cool... pop the hood, turn on the car and quickly put your hand around the missing bolt on the car....If you feel any air hit your hand then its leaking causing a hiss which in turn might give later spool...

One bolt missing won't mess up the spool, not to where you would notice anyway. What kind of sound is it making?

I have done those things and cant really feel anything. i installed a evo III and after the install thisis what happen. i cant boost at all and it makes a wierd screetching noise when i try to boost.i dont know what to do. all oil lines are good, and the water lines are on, but i dont know why its not working properly, everthing is on right except that bolt. on the banjo bolts for the water lines how do i know if theyare linedupright with the wholes on the pipe?

Check the turbo for shaft play and look at the inside walls of the compressor housing to see if the wheel has been rubbing the housing. Screeching sounds from a turbo are not good.

Not sure what you're asking about the banjo bolts. The bolt has a hole. The water fitting has a groove all the way around. So it doesn't matter how the bolt and tube are aligned (that's the purpose of banjo bolts).

I will check that in a minute? but i really hope its not its a brand new turbo.. what would cause that to happen?

Bearing failure would cause that. Overheating it or insufficient oil pressure could cause bearing failure. It might be something else, but check for shaft play to find out. Also check that it spins freely. Is this an eBay e3b16g? How long ago did you install it? How many miles have you driven it since? How many miles have you driven it since it started making these noises?

I installed it yesterday and no its a MHI E316G. it started doing it as soon as i started it and drove it the first time. i primed the turbo before i started it. i undid the coil pack and mpi fuse and cranked it like 3 times for 8 seconds each.

Does it matter which water line goes where? like the feed and return line or does it not matter?

i checked for shaft play and there is none. it stopped making the noise and the car idles and runs fine as long as im not under boost. i can hear pressure build up but nothing happens, if feels like a giant boost leak, i am getting a new bolt today and doing a boost leak test as well.we will see how it goes
