My son just traded his Jetta for a 97 GSX. Drove it one day and then had to take in to a proformance shop just to find out the motor was blown. Any suggestions on replacing the motor? Would like to keep the cost reasonable as he is 16 and can mod it on his own. It already has an upgraded turbo and ground effects as well as being lowered and sway bars.
Which would mean that the crank walked on you. I would suggest getting a rebuilt shortblock from Slowboy or Modern Automotive Performance or Buschar and have AMS put it in. AMS is very expensive. See if there are any other shops to do the work, because 5250 is crazy. Like that 50 bucks is really going to make a difference when they are already raping you.

DO NOT DO THAT....I REPEAT....DO NOT DO THAT
