Hi everyone, I purchased my very first DSM about six months ago from today even though it has been sitting in my drive way collecting pollen due to lack of funds up until recently( I know i should be burned at the stake for that:sosad: . It is a 1995 Eclipse GS automatic with the 420a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter motor in it. I finally got the car running and have driven her a couple of times but there are still a couple of problems that we can not seem to figure out. It seems as though the power steering might be jacked up because I constantly have to keep funneling power steering fluid into engine and on top of that, whenever I turn the steering wheel it makes a grinding noise. There is also the transmission... I'll be driving down the street sometimes and it wont shift it'll just go straight to 3000rpms at 40mph which is ridiculous, but after I put transmission fluid in it it seems to be fine for about an hour and then just repeats the process all over again. Any help or information is greatly appreciated and i apologize if this is not the correct forum to post in. Thanks in advance

Aubrey

Sounds like you have a few leaks. Take it to a shop, or if you want to do it yourself and learn something along the way buy a Haynes manual.

If you have to keep adding PS and Auto Trans fliuid, do you have any leaks to note or is the car "consuming" the fluids without leaking...?

Both sound like possible symptoms of low fluid.

you said it was parked for a while, is there a puddle of fluid under it? also you stated you are adding ps fluid to the engine? you should be putting it in the ps fluid resevoir. just to clarify. also it has a low/high range in the resevoir. when you add fluid to your power steering, you should leave the cap off and add your fluid, go in and turn the wheel back and forth, then see if it used any and top it off and replace the cap. try that. then let us know.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the input, I will definatly try all of the things that you reccomended, and just for the record i didnt literally mean in the engine i ment in the resivoir of course(ROFL), thanks guys
