so after my car sits for a while (such as over night..8 hours or so) when i start it up, the a/f gauge is running where is should be, but by the time i drive a couple blocks, its running really rich already. Then as i go down the road straight for a while in 4th, it starts to lean out some..any ideas at all? thanks

how
does the car run without paying attention to your gauge? if its running rich you would see black smoke... lean would just be a little white smoke also..

it runs horrible..like no power (when its running rich) but fine once it starts to lean out..i mean its so bad that at stop lights i can barely take off its so rich at times

ok listen. You have whats called a heated O2 sensor. This means while the O2 is under 600 degrees its running by only what the computer tells it to run. Now when the car is up to norml driving conditions it will run how the O2 sensor tells it to. If its running too rich or lean hook it up to a scan tool and take a look at that stuff, get it set right! good luck!

also known as closed loop, watch the a/f change for some reason when you hit closed loop you go peg rich. also look at maf voltage, iat, some sensors like that.
