I have been reading up on the forums about fmic's to get and most of the posts are old. I need to find the latest fmic's made that are good and reliable and cool nicely. Any idea's? i heard apexi is a good one. Btw i have a 99gsx

I would STRONGLY recommend the Slowboy kit. Very nice kit. Good strong 4 ply couplers, t-bolts clamps, and the shortest route piping out there. My friend, using dsmlink, logged a run on a 104 degree day last september with the 1g race kit and it showed his intake temperature was 82 degrees. He was running an FP3055 turbo on 26 lbs. Very efficient kit and fairly priced.

Lol, that might be to big, i dont want to cut to much. I dont want to have to cut the outside on the bumper, inside yes, but not outside

Well in that case......I would say look into one of the ETS kits. They are a good company to deal with and make an excellent product. I particularly like their new "Ultra Race Shortest Route Intercooler Kit" but look through their site and see if any of them look good to you. If you don't see something you like, give ETS a call and see what they can do for you.

Is your profile completely filled out? Your mods will play a factor in what size intercooler you should get.

Pretty much is fully filled out. I will be upgrading turbo to either evoIII 16g or 20g eventually...

Youre a newbie remember? Its not about filling up the front, the street is way capable for your set up (stock) and MUCH more, its rated at 450hp which is plenty, if youre going for looks then thats another story..

Well, i wont be "stock" forever. I will be adding much more i just want the best cooling fmic i can get for the good price

That one doesnt work with my stock t25 turbo, I need something that will work with my stock turbo that will also work with an upgraded turbo, eventually i will have an upgraded turbo.

My vote is for this one. Your t25 probably won't like the big intercooler so much, but I'm a fan of modding once even if it means making some sacrifices (like spool up time) for now. ETS sells pipes individually too, so when you upgrade your turbo you only have to buy one new pipe from them.

I will eventually upgrade, but what about the short route?

The short route intercooler has a bigger core (1.5 inches taller, 1 inch wider) and requires hacking up the frame a bit. I like the kit because of the looks of the short route piping, but I wouldn't expect a noticeable difference between the short route and non-short route kits. The difference in the length of the pipes won't make too much difference. If you were to get the short route kit, I definitely wouldn't go bigger than a 3" or 3.5" thick core or you may have overheating issues. But both of the kits are probably major overkill for a 16g or 20g. Give ETS a call and discuss your plans with them. They should have a good idea of which you should go with if you tell them your future plans for the car.

I wouldn't worry about a front mount if your still on the stock turbo then. Front mount isn't one of those "first mods" you do on these cars. What all is done to your car right now?

Ok I just took a look at your current mods.....Well it seems you have the basic things done. I would start buying some other things first though before you think about getting a front mount or turbo. Boost controller, turbo timer...things like that. I would upgrade your clutch and flywheel too. Your gonna need to do that anyway for power increases you will experience with the turbo, front mount, and other things. ACT is the best dsm clutch out there hands down. I would go with the 2600 with street disc since you are awd. I also suggest the ACT flywheel. That way you don't have to get your flywheel decked down and the lighter weight of the ACT flywheel will pick up your revs a little.
Now if you don't feel like doing these things first and want to go ahead with the frount mount or turbo, I would go with the turbo and supporting mods first. FIC 650's are good for about 400 whp and I always say get a little more than what you need. You'll be getting close to 300 whp with turbo, inj, fuel pump, front mount and some kind of piggyback and 550's will limit you. You can find used injectors on here with no problem. Everything else I would buy new.
I'm not trying to steer you away from what you want to do with your car, just been there and done that with these cars and now I know the better steps to take with them.
BTW...the slowboy kit WILL work with your t-25 cause it's a downward facing turbo. That kit is made for downward facing turbos.
