is this my WG making this sound

when im driving my car at a normal person rate ( not wot ) and I take my time getting up to speed everythig sounds normal all the way up to about 5k then it starts sounding more like a V8 on the flip side of this at anytime I go wot it also sound like a V8 now ive been told by a few people that its my WG that is doing this since this is my first turbo with a WG i have nothing to compare this to. MY WG is a Tial 40mm and is mounted to the mani. I dont think its an exhaust leak cause other than the noise I have no other problems .

Where does the wastegate dump? To atmosphere or back into the exhaust?

Never heard a wastegate as being described as V8 sounding. They usually sound like a massive exhaust leak or stage 15 VTEC.

Does it start making the noise at a particular boost level (i.e. where you have it set)? If so, that's the wg.

my first geuss would be wg, if it dumps atmosphericaly thats wut it will sound like and that is a beautiful sound. you'll learn to love it.

Thats definately your wastegate. You have it vented to the atmosphere. so it make a loud roar when you hit full boost even if its not WOT.

well back to the subject... recirculate your bov. see if that helps. I have mine recirculated back into my aluminum intercooler pipe and it sounds like a ssq when it releases and its a 1g bov. pretty sweet on the other hand my friends have it so theres sounds more like a whoosh even with it recirculated.
