well depending on you mechanic level, they are not hard to replace at all. search it im sure there are multiple threads on replacement of them. Im sure it will be way cheaper to do it yourself just a thought.. :thumb:

I followed the VFAQ article and then wrote up a more detailed one for this forum. Take a look at it (link below) and see if it's something worth your time/skill/knuckleskin. If not, you can take it to any reputable mechanic. I'd buy the revised (3g) Topline lifters and drop them off with the car.

If anyone knows of a source of the lash adjuster tool, that'd be awesome...makes changing the lifters about 10x easier.

I have a herniated disk, but I guess I can get my son to help me. I think it's about time he puts some of my well earn money I gave him to work. LOL

Yep! That's the one. But...OMG...$70?! I think 10 of us should pitch in $7 each and then trace out the shape and make 9 others. It's just a flat piece of steel with a handle.

Actually, we should make 90 others and sell them for $50/ea and make a cool $450/ea :D That'd buy my FP, AFPR and injectors!

If you've got $70 to spend, this will make lifter install a breeze.
 
Thanks for the link.. just bought one myself. I've got Topline 3g lifters just sitting in my garage that I've never got around to installing. This tool should make it a snap.

I bought manualcd *after* changing my lifters, saw that tool, and was like, "Oh man, that would've been a snap if I had that tool!" Let us know how easy/hard it is with the tool (and if you bent a valve or anything afterward ;)).
 
So guys, can I assume that since I purchased the Valve Lift Removal Tool, I will not need a Crow Bar to Pry the lashers loose, etc? :confused:

The tool will allow you to pry against the cam to compress the valve spring. Then the rocker will fall out (MAKE SURE YOU PLUG ALL OF THE OIL RETURN PASSAGES - those rockers won't go all the way to the oil pan, but they'll be hard to get at). With the rocker out, the lifter will pull up out of the head. You will probably have to crank the motor over (clockwise only) to get the lobes of the cams out of the way. If the lobe is sticking out over the lifter, you can't pull the lifter all the way out. So look at which lobes are out of the way and do those lifters, then turn the motor (clockwise) until other cams are out of the way of other lifters, etc.

I'd still read through the tech article, as you still have to prime the lifters and turn the motor manually.
