I just got this car, Eagle Talon TSI, Heavily Modified
I ended up trading him my 97 cherokee for it. On the drive home i was getting on the highway and i was just getting up to speed, boost was at 10 psi and the clutch started slipping. At this point i was kinda pissed and now anytime it gets boost the clutch slips.
Is there somrthing i can do for the clutch or do i need a need one. He said there is 1200 miles on the clutch. Also when i put it in 5 and then it just pops out, Put it back in and pop again and i pretty much cant go in 5th cause it just pops out. But i am not to worried about that tho because he said that the trans is under warranty from jacks trans. is there a fix for the 5th gear that i can do? Other than thank the car runs great and drives great.

thanks,

The clutch could be slipping due to a bad rear main seal leak, or maybe the output shaft/input shaft seals in the tranny leaking, or just a worn clutch. Pull the rubber boot away from the slave cylinder, or even the flywheel inspection cover and check for residue or fluid in the bell housing.

If I remember correctly, the 5th gear popping out could be due from the nut that holds the 5th assembly on the shaft, and as it loosens it allows play in the 5th gearset which makes it pop out. If thats the case, it's actually an easy fix. Just removed the outermost tranny case cover (you can do this on the car) and tighten up whatever nut is loose to the specified torque and fill 'er back up with some nice fluid. Try searching that topic.

Contact Jack at Jack Trans. and see if it is really under warranty. If it is, they should be able to fix it IF the warranty is transferable to you.

I don't really have any tech advice, but whenever I buy something, if I don't see a receipt and can't verify it for myself someway, it's not new/rebuilt/under warranty. I just take it as used.
