just wondering how i tighten the latches on my convertible top? Not the hook that goes into the holes but the actual latch? thank for any input

Do you mean to make the roof latch more firmly? If so, then you need to loosen the set screws at the base of the hook and screw the hook deeper into the socket. I found with the the hooks screwed all the way in, there was still insufficient clamping force, so I cut a small amount off the threaded end of the hooks so the could be screwed in more deeply.

yes i would like my roof to be more secure. i have tightened the hooks but the actual latch when i pull it down is so loose.

wret my hooks cant go any further... should i cut a little off of the actual hook? and also how did you tighten the latch that you pull down? where are the screws?

The latch get's "tight" when there is more tension on the hook. Yes, screw the hook bolt all the way out, then cut or grind an eighth inch or so off the treads. Clean up the threads with a file, then screw it back in. Adjust the latch tension by changing the depth of the hook bolts.

Or, put a nut on first.
Doh!:|

You know that seems like simple common since but I've been fixing (and breaking) things since I was old enough to hold a plastic screwdriver and I never thought to do that. I blame my mom, mostly. I had to play in the band instead of going to metal shop.:notgood:
