Stupid question: Shipping cost for 4 rims + tires

Stupid question, just wondering how much people have spent on shipping wheels + tires around the continental USA.

Not sure if it matters, but not really in a hurry, if that matters.

CA to WA would be useful as that is where one of the sets I'm looking at is located.

I can't quote a number, but Greyhound Bus will likely be cheapest.

Go to UPS.com and type in some numbers. Tires seem to be about 25lbs a piece and so do rims. You will also need to know the packaging. It also might cost more if they aren't in boxes and are just wrapped or bound. Then there's additional fees for dimensional weight. It's also cheaper to get them delivered to a commercial address (that has a loading dock).

I had just 4 tires (no rims) shipped to me from Nebraska (to PA) for about $70.

Check out tirerack.com for tires and/or rims. I just got 4 tires from there pretty cheap. Their shipping is also cheaper. Just and idea.

damn that ups quote is scary as crap! but i really appreciate you doing that, really helps me get an idea of how much i'd be looking to spend.

You really won't know the cost unless the person shipping them tells you exactly how they ship. That price is just about worst case senerio. Since each box is 100lbs, it might actually be cheaper to ship them in 4. If they're being shipped UPS, you might be better off going to a store and asking someone there to give you a quote. They might know what to do to bring the cost down.

Shipping on something like that will leave you sore . Need to consider local or big businesses .

UPS shipped my rims+tires to me for 150. 18s with tires that were AIRED up.. yeh it added weight.

EDIT- this is with the guy who shipped them to me using his own packaging and he took them up to his UPS store.. they didnt come get them.

thing is I'm trying to find a set of used cp035s so it's hard enough to just find a set, let alone in my state.

I just shipped a set. Nicely stretched wrapped, MD to PA was $72. Later UPS notified me they had charged me $25 more for not having them in boxes. That was painful, considering they sold on ebay for $50.

If I remember correctly I paid $150 about three years ago for some 17in rims with tires to be shipped.

If you box it up yourself it costs less. I bought a set of SRT rims and tires [deflated] for $400 shipped. The seller told me it was only $100 to ship it from Florida to NJ in 2 boxes.
