So today I picked up some raybestos brake pads from kragen for my eclipse, went to go put it in only to find out that there wasn't enough clearance. Being that this is my first time replacing old brake pads and I'm 17 and inexperienced, I have a question: Did I buy the right ones? or am I just missing a step..? help... thanks!

You must push the brake caliper piston back first (with a very cheap special tool available at any auto store or sometimes you can use a very large slip joint pliers if you're careful). Suck out (eg. with a turkey baster) some brake fluid from it's reservoir first (but make sure you don't EVER remove enough to uncover the bottom or you will let air into the lines) so you don't overflow it when you push the piston in. After new pads are in hit brakes couple times, then top off brake fluid.

A large c-clamp works great for pushing the calipers back in. Just crank it back in slowly until you get enough clearance. I've never worried about draining brake fluid and then putting it back to prevent overflow. I only compress the calipers until i have just enough clearance.
