Newmarket,
Hi all, I am up in toronto Canada. My transmission 2nd gear synchro is gone, so I decided to beef up my tranny and get a rebuilt. But looking at the cost of shipping is going to be too much, so i was thinking of rather ordering the parts. I know teamRIP doesnt ship to Canada, so I looked and Jackstransmission and sheptrans. I don't know of much more places, but I am basically looking for a rebuilt kit, or a gear set, or whatever I need to put it back together at a shop here. I am a newb, and don't know what I need, but later this summer my buddy is going to rebuild the engine for me, and we going to toss on a few goodies, and hopefully make around 300whp. So i need my tranny to handle that. Can you guys please advise me on what parts I need to get for my tranny and also waht clutch, any flywheel if any at all? Everythign in detail please, I am a total newb. Thanks a lot guys.

I've looked around, didn't find anything good. I can get used trannys for cheap, but I dont want one, I want a good rebuilt on mine, and to beef my tranny up a bit. Also if anyone has gotten anything from Magnus? Magnus is local for me, and they do dogbox trannies for DSMs, they can also to do a modern rebuilt for me, but I have no idea what they do and if they are any good.
Anyways just looking for good tranny built with little cash to spend I guess. LOL my budget is 3000 MAX for everything tranny, clutch, lines, flywheel, whatever else i need to get as well, while i am there. any suggestions are welcome, please. Thanks guys.

By the way I looked at jackstransmissions, and they have nice EVO gear clusters, if not for the price, i would so get that. or I wish that TRE shipped to Canada, but they don't

Well, Magunmotorsports is good as far as I have heard. Keep in mind, I personally don't have any experience but I had a buddy of mine that got his spyder's transmission rebuilt a couple of years back. They did fairly good job. Talk to Marco at magnus and I am sure they can work something out for you as far as a rebuilt is concerned.

On a side note, if your eventual goal is 300whp then a nice OEM rebuilt, center force dual friction clutch, get your flywheel resurfaced or purchase XACT flywheel as it is much lighter then the stock and SS clutch lines would be more then enough.

Hope it helps,
Osman

You could send TRE your tranny, have them rebuild it, then have them send it to a buddy at the US/Canada border. Then drive down and pick it up or ship it up from there.

Thanks for your input guys.

I've spoke with Jack and JacksTrans, and I can get the evo gear clusters, which is a bit out of my range, for me to pay for shipping for that, and then install it here, would be around 3k already. My other option is TRE, either to drive down there to get the parts, drive down to have it rebuilt there, or like the other person mentioned to ship it there, and then have him ship it back to the border, I haven't thought abotu that, and wasn't sure he can do it, but I'd rather probably just drive there, its about 6-7 hours from here. The only thing is I dont have a passport, and have to do it now, which will take about a month or a bit more, so I was just looking for other alternatives.
If anyone else knows of Magnus transmissions, please let me know as well.
Thanks a lot guys.

Also I was looking at flywheels, which one specifically should i get? if i plan to keep the car stock for another half a year or so, and later in the summer i'll put on my big16g and get my engine rebuilt. I heared from a few friends, with subaru's that ACT is not that great.
I looked at the centerforce dual disk clutch, not sure, seems like its made for high power/torque cars, not sure if it would be big overkill or not with me driving stock for now.
I was looking at Spec Stage 1 Kit (not sure how good that one is), and also Excedy Organic Clutch. I hear excedy is good. Anyways, any input is great, before I make my decision on buying parts. thanks guys.
