I am here to officially say that Dsms are getting real old, they are making lots and lots more of stock parts obsolete. Just kind of a FYI. I tried getting trim pieces that go between the doors and window, ya know, the ones that crack and reveal the chrome underaneath. That is just one example. I tried to get into contact with who orginally made the parts, but my source/ parts guy said he talked to people at Mitsu about this and he got a, "we can't tell you where the parts came from" answer. Oh well just thought I would pass this bad news on.

you know you bring up a point .. read this and thought you know by golly he's right. actually saw some of those trim pieces like you were talking about. cant remember right off hand where .. but i.e your thread here, something tells me i'd better go and get em before they are gone ..
i'll do some searching soon and see if i cant locate them again ... god i hope i find it .. cause of all things to look funky .. those always stick out ...LOL..

Not a new idea. MMA is discontinuing a lot of items. MACHV, JNZ still have some OEM parts but more and more are dropped. Another kicker is the trim decals for Talon's. These are no longer available and the images are copyrighted so that they can not be reproduced.

If a sticker shop is giving you crap about copyright, find another shop. None of the DSM stickers are complicated.

As for the window sill trim, that's been either stupidly expensive or just unavailable for a very long time. And no, you will not find any in a junkyard that doesn't look worse.
There's a Tech Article about refinishing it.

Why not take a razor blade and trim real close to the base of the trim piece and pull it off?

Thats what I done, and I have been asked a few times after receiving a compliment; Where did you get those chrome pieces at?

Now, I'm not a fan of chrome on a DSM but I think it looks just dandy :D

If the chrome look doesn't do it for you, painting them flat or satin (semi-gloss) black will return them to a presentable appearance very quickly; you could also go the high dollar route and have them powder coated instead. The same goes for any of the vinyl coated trim parts; remover them without damaging them and you're golden when it comes to refinishing options. BTW, a heat gun helps when removing the old, cracked vinyl coating! :thumb:

Thanks for the tip I will contact them and see what I can find. Just to let you know I couldn't get those sticker back in 97 when I started DSMing.

Those mouldings have been MIA for about a year and a half or more. Makes me so very glad I ordered mine up back in 1999 when I did.

Sorry. I already tried looking for them for months almost anyplace that you can think of. and I did not find anything. I just gave up on it and will be refunishing mine pretty soon.
