which HIDs should i get?

hey just wanted to know which HID kit i should buy? best for the money? and how long install will take?
 
I too recently picked up a pair of the DDM slim kit & so did my buddy. Sharp HID was great to deal with & for a few extra $ you can get a lifetime warranty on both the bulbs & ballats, can't beat that! Just make sure you go with 6K max (I went with the 5K). The higher K ratings are way to rice & hard on your eyes.
 
Hmm, sounds very tempting. So if I wanted to convert both my low beam and high beam to HID, what K rating should I go with for both of them? I mean, can the 9006 be 5k and then the 9005 be 6k or do they both need to be the same. The reason I want these now is because my lights are really dim and I want something brighter. They are so bad that I can hardly see in the rain.

BTW: What are your experiences like when you installed them? Easy or REALLY easy?

Go to SharpHID.com - Automotive HID Xenon Conversion Lighting Products & read their reference section. The kelvin rating is the colour temperature & not the amount of light output. Actually the higher the K rating (light is more coloured) the less the light output. Factory HID's use 4300K for the greatest light output. The multicolour effect you see from these is from the proper HID projector's light refraction. You won't get this effect when installing a HID into a halogen housing.

Personally I wouldn't get the high beams, most only go with the lows. They take abit before they ignite so their not ideal to be switching from lows to high's as I believe with our config, there will be a small amount of time with no light output, defently not a good idea.

They also have a gallery with installed pics so you can get an idea of the light colour coutput. Like I said, I wouldn't go over 6000k as the light starts to take on a good amount of colour & is annoying for other drivers, & can be for your own eyes as well.


Normally I wouldn't not recommend someone putting a HID kit in a std halogen housing as they don't have the proper cutoff & are usually blinding to other drivers (I leave my high beams on all the time when someone has installed HID's in his halogen housing & is blinding me with his poor light cutoff). Now I don't know about the other headlight's but I can say the 2gb Eclipse headlights actually have very good cutoff for a halogen housing & of all the cars I've seen done with the HID kits in a halogen housing, they are defently the best & the easiest on other drivers. Just make sure you adjust your headlights to angle down abit as the HID's do produce a tonn more light.

I hear you with the "angle down abit" part. This is the exact reason I hate BMW X5's when they are behind me. Especially since I am lowered just a bit. Their lights go straight to my rear view mirror.

And the X5 will actually have a proper cutoff, issue here is their high & your low, so your below their cutoff point, getting all that good HID light ;) Now think about how bad it is to have a HID kit in a halogen housing with bad cutoff, this will be the annoying light that every other driver will have to deal with.

I just came across this when I googled for HID cutoff pic to give some examples for people who weren't sure what I was refering too. As you can see, the pics show good examples of how a proper HID setup will work & also examples of very poor halogen headlight housings with HID bulbs:
