This is a question for the auto tranny guys out there. My wife has a 91 Talon TSI AWD automatic, her motor/trans are junk, I'm going to buy a low millage FWD auto engine/trans because the price fits my budget. I refrenced my 1990 FSM before posting, and it doesn't have the AWD auto info in it, my question is will the FWD internalls swap into the AWD case. If no I might reconsider and keep searching for an AWD trans/engine combo.

I dont think that the axles will line up.. The FWD are longer then the AWD. Also i believe the converter would have to be removed.. but im not a hundred percent sure.. I have had an auto and a 5 spd, but never really taken it apart.

Hoe this helps even alittle.

Not to be rude, but the question was if the INTERNALS of a fwd auto will swap with the internals of an auto awd trans. Why is probably the next question thats about to arise from everyone, or someone's going to say "just get an awd trans to swap in, its a whole lot easier" I'm not worried about the easy part, I have an FSM and I worked for chrysler for about 2 years. I have found a 2wd engine and trans for cheap, and I want to rebuild my awd trans cheaply. I have never had two of them side by side pulled apart to know if anything will swap out.

For simple, I =Talon TSI AWD, MY AWD trans=junk, Want put FWD PARTS in AWD trans=fix AWD trans. Is possible?

Thanks :D
