egt probe fitting sealent

what do you use if you use any sealant on the fitting that was used to hold the egt probe in the number one cylender.Its threaded tight but i dont want it to leak and i cant weld cast iron.Jb weld?
 
Pipe threads are designed to be self sealing when tight. No sealant is required.
 
Yes, if you find it necessary to perform an un-necessary procedure, definately use a material that won't withstand the heat. This makes it not only unnecessary but a complete waste of time.
