hi tomorrow i am going to look at a 95 GSX, i am courious if it is a OBD1 or 2. i searched and some people said if they are built after 95 they are OBD2

how can i tell

where is the OBD1 port if it is a OBD 1 car??

Thanks

cool thanks alot guys! how about smog? does it have to have the OBDii Cat and stuff or just a catted dp?

is there anything abouta 95 that is not as good as 96+ other then the different bumpers?

The main benefit you may have with a 95 is the possibility of an eprom ecu. Other wise, they just aren't as "pretty" as the 97+ ;)

On a side note:

Is there anywhere else its listed? My car has been painted and the sticker is now gone. Or am I stuck calling a dealer with the VIN?

Well, in reality if you know its a 95, it doesn't matter what month it was made in, it's a 95 DSM w/ OBD2. But, I believe that is the only place. There is also a sticker on the pass. side in the engine bay located approximately behind the battery on the firewall that I know gives the paint code. Not sure if the date of manufacture is on there. Otherwise, you'll probably have to call the dealer.

The other main difference between 95's and other years is the possibility of it having an Eprom ECU, which comes in handy when you want to get DSMLink or another type of tuning chip. Read more about DSMLink at DSMLink Homepage

Missed that one, huh Mr. Boxx?

:D

The cam/crank sensor on the 2ga cars is different, too. The 2gb has it like the 1gs (end of the intake cam) where you can actually get at it without having to retime the motor. 30 seconds to change versus 2 hours.

Being a 95, you are exempt from the OBDII readiness check when you smog. And since it's AWD exempt from the dyno during smog. And you have EEPROM ecu. Being in Cali, those are some important stuff.

WOW thats great know!! thanks alot everyone!!
