2G datalogging question

Is the OBD2 to DB9 interface from Multiplex Eng the only place to get this port? I'm using a palm m130 and need a way to attach it to my car to datalog. Has anyone figured out where to buy this cheaper, or better yet make your own?

I don't think I have ever seen a write up on making your own or anything. I think the biggest problem there would be sourcing the plastic OBDII plug from a place that would only sell one of them.

I have one from multiplex but someone else is borrowing it or I would open it and tell you if it looked doable to make one. I know my DSMlink one has a special circuit board in it and I don't know what goes on inside of the Multiplex adapter.

Edit: On Multiplex's site they have a picture of the internals of the adapter. Looking at this I would say just spend the $85 unless you are really good with circuit design.
