can you help

wow really.. now i drove the car plenty of times and i told her the smell i was smelling made me think the clutch was burning.. i know the smell becuase i burnt my very first clutch out in my first car...so after she drives the car semi hard freeway driving mostly it smells like the clutch is burning... now if she messes up the clutch will it have the same symtoms?

Several things can go wrong. I would suspicion the clutch or maybe even an axle break. 3g clutches are really interesting as they are a pull type of clutch instead of a push type of clutch. This makes removing the transmission really interesting if you have never done one. If you heard no weird noises and it just quit pulling, then likely it's the clutch. Yes, down shifting can damage the clutch especially if you go from 5th to 2nd or something like that. You centrifuge the clutch to death. In layman's terms you over rev the disc and it simply can't stay together under the g forces.

The clutch is pretty pricey too. So, when you get it repaired, post here with the results.

Good Luck
