So I just installed my motor last nite went well. Im putting the traqnny in now. Ive got it on I can start the bolts but its 1/4 from the engine and I cant get it to go any further. I car kick the the end of the tranny and it will go on, But than it springs back to about a 1/4 out. Im pretty sure that the shaft from the tranny is started into the clutch disc, But im not possitive.

Also the engine to tranny bolt that goes on the back bottom. I know it goes in the opppisite way than the other 3 but I cant figure it out. Is it the same tread size and pitch as the other 3 bolts or is it a little small?

if you used a clutch alignment tool and your eye measurement is pretty exact then the shaft is in the disc and then you can read the bottom if not then take off the trans find a clutch alignment tool and redo the clutch.

as for it not mating up perfectly don't worry about that it won't always do it perfectly just put all the bolts in and run them down evenly (turn one a couple of times and then do this to every bolt till the trans is on tight) until you get it so thers no gap, then just tighten all the bolts. as for that inside rear bolt on the trans its is about the length of one of the starter bolts but it is a 12mm bolt that has a #10 on the top of the head (the 10 stands for whart grade it is).

Also make sure the trans/bell housing is on the dowel pins and pushed the whole way up against the block.

Good luck.

Sounds like the splines of the clutch might not be matched up perfectly with the input shaft. See if you can get an axle in the tranny to spin it slightly while having someone shove the transmission again.

I'm ignorant on the throwout bearing on DSMs but I've seen where people had them backwards on other vehicles. Make sure that thing is in there correctly.
