That pic is of my brothers '95 GST and when he purchased the kit it came with two full mounts and two sets of inserts. The full mounts go in the trans and driver side mount, and the inserts are meant for the front and rear mounts. Recently I heard someone say that Prothane now included a full mount for the front mount but the rear was still an insert, so that is why I said the insert was for the rear. I just sent Prothane an email to ask about that.

The smallest ones are for the rear mount. They are just inserts. The next size up is for the front and it is a full replacement. When I purchased the set it came with a set of inserts for the front and back, but I can tell just by looking at that it is a full insert.

Im trying to locate a picture of the rear mount if you can't find where it is located.

Yeah you have a 2g, you are right.....front and rear are inserts, 1g have only a front insert. You can leave without the rear one (highly reccomended unless you have nerves of steel). It tends to vibrate a lot with the rear insert in and drove me NUTS. I like running the front and side two and leaving the back one alone. The engine still wont move at all but wont drive you nuts at the same time with all the vibrations. Just some food for thought.

To the origonal poster, the pic you posted looks like a set from a 1g, but i do believe the front inserts are the same in the 1g and 2g so the ones you see in the pic that are small, are the front mount inserts. The front mount inserts are the more important of the bunch so i would use them

I have the kit installed and I was told during the install that they recommended to not install the sides and just the front and rear. They said it was the sides that caused a lot of vibration. I asked around and someone said it's tolerable and just install the whole thing. Well, I have front, rear, and sides installed and I can definitely feel a difference. Here is how it feels to me:

Before inserts - riding in a honda civic (real smooth and can't feel the engine at all)

After inserts - riding in any modified 60's large block V8. Now I also did a BSE on my engine so that will account for increased vibration but when I start my car, the first minute has the most vibration and once the engine gets to temp, it feels like a well tuned V8 vibration.

Those small ones are for the FRONT mount. All mounts except for the front replace the entire rubber part, the front ones are just inserts.

Joe

On the 1G, yes - you are correct, but the OP has a 2G. On a 1G, the rear, transmission and timing belt side is a replacement. The front is an insert.

On the 2G - The transmission mount and the driver side engine mount mount are full rubber parts and are not inserts. The front and rear (Prothane) are inserts like the Energy Suspension ones. The small ones (which are inserts) go on top of the car's existing FRONT and the REAR Mount.

I just have the Energy suspension (ES) inserts and I love them. I didn't want the entire car vibrating with the full prothane kit so I opted for the ES kit.
