if you have the book you can adjust the maft knobs to compensate for the 550's if not the manual can be found on the site that makes the maft

When I had my MAF-T, I had 550's and they worked perfect. I was able to get my tune pretty decent without adding a SAFC2.

Yea you should beable to get an ok tune with just the maf-t. I have a safc right now and I'm going to add a maf-t and 950's with a maf-t. Hopefully my timing doesnt go to crazy but I'm going to run e85 so I hope the motor can handle it.
