Im posting this for a friend he has a 1992 eagle turbo awd. mods are forced performance green turbo, some kind of tubular manifold,3 inch exhaust, 850 injectors, big race intercooler, tial wastegate, many others.

His problem is he goes through alternators every couple months, he thinks it is from the heat. He is thinking about making a heat shield for his alternator. Does anyone else suffer from this problem or used to and has a solution. If you know anything about this post your ideas, pics would also be nice.

Sheilds are possible, theres also relocation kits and as well there is a new idea of using a saturn alt with some modification, which seems to be a better unit from the start. Its also able to be relocated to the back of the engine, so you get away from the heat and have a stronger alt. Search around,

Every DSM with an aftermarket exhaust tends to have that problem.

Vent the hood to alleviate underhood temps.
Wrap the exhaust or have it ceramic coated.
Fab up a heat (although I hear it doesnt help much)
Relocate the alternator in place of the AC compressor.
