Hey guys. I have a 95, I'm not positive if it's an eprom ecu but I will know within the hour. I'm about to go strip the dash down and do a few things now. I am getting tired of having to constantly make small adjustments to the tune with ecu+ and was wondering if there is anything similar to DSMap for the second gens? I remember there being some talk of doing something like the same for the 2G but not sure if anything ever came out or not. Any advice or help would be appreciated. I am in the market for a new tuning tool rather it be Link or just a chip so everyone start with the info. Thanks in advance.

I personally looked into that for myself at one time. But a buddy of mine got one and we just got his car back together and started trying to tune it with this little device and all I can say is HELL NO!!!!!! We couldn't even manage to get anything close to the same datalog numbers on two runs without changeing anything... much less could we get it to do much more than piss the both of us off. I've heard great things from some users about it, but my experiance with it has made me very happy that I never bought one for myself in the first place.

I figured that most would say that but I'm trying to get away from tuning myself. I am really looking for something like an Eprom that I can just put in and be done with it. I'm tired of haveing to ajust tunes for different things. The mane thing that bothers me is that lately I have been working on a new tune every few days because I can't seem to get something just right for all weather conditions. It's just a tune it and hope it still runs decently tomorrow type of thing. and it's starting to get really annoying.

Then DSMLink is probably what you are looking for. It is very easy to tune. I drove on DSMLink for a year without even plugging in a laptop.

Just to add. When you do brave up and start editing, DSMLink is so easy to use. Nothign against a speed density setup at all. They offer significantly less restriction for those looking at bigger power, but dsmlink is so easy to tune since you don't have to set up the VE table. The maf always tells the ecu what airflow entering the engine, so the ecu doesn't need YOU to teach it what's going on.

... And BTW, it's d@mn good to see you on here again, Josh!!! It's been over a year.

As far as I know nobody has uncoded the 2g ECU for dsmap yet. I run it on my 1g and it is the s**T. Best tuning source out there for the 1g IMHO. I am thinking about buying a 2g roller and swapping in a 1g ECU to run DSMAP on it. This is just talk right now cause the only thing I drive right know is a truck in Iraq. Doing the swap of the harness should be easy enough. Getting all the little stuff to run right might be a little more difficult. Let you guys know in about a year!

You 2g guys are always wanting our 1g stuff!! ROFL
Finally we get something released to us 1g guys before it gets developed for the 2g. HAHA...
I will be converting to this sometime this year!! If you know how the ECU interprets the information it is given you can tune with this. It's actually pretty simple when you get down to it. :thumb:

-No more worrying about your tune being off due to boost leaks
-No more MAF
-No more SAFC
-No more $500 DSMlink
-No more Narrow Band O2 sensor
-Wideband is directly wired to the ECU and actually used by it.

DS-MAP is still in its infancy. Very basic program. The V2 Beta is nice. But, I actually prefer V1 since it is not as slow (Java just kills these old laptops). When the project is totally finished it will be made easier to understand.

Yes you do have to stay on top of your game with this. You will have to make sure you monitor it at all times. The tune will change with temperature since most people force it into open loop.

Considering its the same engine, I would assume you could use a 1g harness and somehow get it to work with the rest of your 2g =)
DSMlink is for sure easier, but nowhere close to a tuned SD setup. I would say anyone could use dsmlink, but you need to know wtf your doing with anything else, even safc :)
