do i need a 91 wiring harness for my 91 GSX

I bought a wiring harness for my eclipse and I think it is a 2g. Idk why, but my headlights dont flip up and rpm gauge doesn't work. Is that because of my wiring harness?

The lights could be a blown fuse dead motors or a bad switch. And the tach could have a qued loose some place or a blown fuse

the tach could be a host of things. I doubt you got a 2g wiring harness in a 1g car. There are alot of differences. I've owned 1g and 2g's and they share the 4g63 and that's about it (ok so they share alot more then that but the wiring harness's are very different.

would a 2g harness plug into a 1g ecu? Also. I went through 3 guage clusters because I thought it was the reason my tach didnt work. the first one: the tach never worked. the second: the tach worked every other time. The last one: tach never worked.

No a 2g harness won't work in a 1g car, at least it won't be a plug and go application. The ecu plugs are completely different, they switched to obd2 and a bunch of plugs changed.

You probally have a harness from a 1gb car, they didn't have popups. Not sure about the tach, the wiring is the same on all tachs from 91'-94' so as long as your stuff didn't come from a 90' you should be fine. You will probally need to get a manual and trace it, possibly there is a short in the circuit.

I did an engine harness swap from a 1g 91-94 to a 90. There's a lot of misinformation about it, and i searched a lot a while back when i did the swap because of lack of information regarding this kind of swap. To tell if is a 90 harness or a 91-94 harness just take a look at the Throttle Body electrical plugs. The TPS plug will be rectangle on a 91-94 and plug right onto the sensor itself. On a 90 the wiring comes directly off the sensor then plugs into a pigtail.

The "MD" number on your ECU can help tell you what year it is.

ok. is the year of the ecu important? The sensor plug is the same as my brothers 92 so its 91-94

The 90 ECU is different than other model years. It is important to know what year you have.

Modification to the power transistior and switching wires 6 and 14 at the ecu are required for it to work correctly in later years.

You really want a US ECU. Post up the numbers on what you have.
There are many JDM ECUs that won't work correctly in a US car because of wiring and functional differences. The dual board JDM ECUs for example won't datalog.

I dont want a US ecu. Supposively at ECM tunning, they converted my ecu to US. I dont know if I said, but I have the dsmlink. When I had my jdm ecu It did have an eprom and it didnt say mitsubishi on it.

I have an extra transistor. Is the problem the harness or the transistor? my motor and transistor are from japan.
