Key slot for hatch is stubborn

The day I got my car I tried to open my hatch with the key, It didn't work, and I have never tried since. I guess this is common. :(

If you try pressing down on the hatch (and holding down while unlocking) and push the key all the way in and slowly pull the key out as you unlock it. You'll find the right spot eventually and it will become easier as you become more familiar with the spot in which it free's up.

Been using this method on my Talon since I got it :thumb::rocks:

What hatch release mod is this? The power solenoid one (http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/appearance-interior-exterior/253444-power-hatch-release.html)? I've had to pull mine twice for years and finally just yesterday broke down and bought new hatch struts which fixed it. Everyone wants so much for struts so I put up with it.

i dont think it has much to do with the struts but the mod i saw was like you get to the locking mechanism and you drill a hole to stretch a spring more and then you bend another part and then i guess it works like magic

either pull the cylinder out and spray it down with silicone spray or PB Blaster or just poke the tip of a tooth pick in it and spray lube in it while still installed in the car.

Same problem here. Mine has worked once with the key since I've owned it. I'm planning to get a new key made to see if it helps. Does anyone make a keyed alike lock set for these cars?
