He's not doing it on the street? How many tracks are open in Wisconsin in the winter? I think WIR is the closest track to where he lives and they are seasonal just like the rest of the tracks. I lived in the midwes(Iowa)t for two winters and I know for a fact that the tracks are closed this time of year.

Forums have this hugely bad problem with people not addressing the question(s) asked sometimes, running off course, straying like a dog escaped.

I’d like to know why this guy’s DSM will not go over 105? I’m a n00b & I thought these machines were ungoverned. Car and Driver says it will do 140 + in the 92 issue and 145 in the 91 issue. Is it because of his ECU or what, or what else controls the top speed on these cars besides the boneheadedly obvious things like friction & power.

I don’t come on here to read someone’s over zealous response to potential open road super speeding (very introspective- it’s snowy here.) Frankly that’s that person’s business if they want to risk all that. I hope they are really careful, flawless and meticulous in their escapades of speed.

I come here to read about the cars and get the expertise from people who have been hands on with DSM’s, tuning, cursing, crying, laughing and shedding blood with these goddamned machines- Not MADD mothers or fathers against street racing, sorry. And I don’t mean to flame (whatever that is..) but to voice my opinion.

Can we please try to stick to the topic at hand?

What does the rest of your setup look like, I checked your profile and its almost empty(not trying to nag, just want additional info!). Did it feel like it was breaking up at 105mph? Or was it more like hitting a brick wall? Also Ive never tried it but, is it even possible to do 105mph in 3rd gear?

my 2g ive had it to 135 and that was only in 4th gear. and im still on the stock turbo. just got alot of bolt on's. but as far as my gears. 1st gos to 40, 2nd to 65, 3rd to 105, 4th gos to 135, and i havent hit fifth yet.

Thanks, like I said I have never tried so your input is appreciated. We just need to wait on the OP to see what kind of mods he is running. Don't want to misdiagnose!

Im not sure about the 1g but on 2g they have a speed limiter on the gst at 130. But the gsx has no speed limiter. 1g may have a speed limiter also. But like i said iim unsure if they do or not. But either way you also have to have enough power to get faster. If the turbo is spooling for all it can its not goign to get any faster. Which it shouldnt be maxed out. But like stated above check for boost leaks, vacuum leaks. That will cause the turbo not to pull like it should.

I agree with a-flint87. Enough with how fast you can go in what gear at 9 bazillion rpms we need more factual information. For example how much boost you are running and what all bolt on’s you have. So from the broken English that I'm reading no matter what gear you are in the car will not go past 105mph, right? What exactly is the car doing when it stops accelerating? Does it feel like you hit a brick wall? Did you change the ECU pins around in your harness for the 91 ECU? From what I can kind of make out it sounds like you are experiencing fuel cut. We need to know what mods you have first before determining though.

My friend had an AWD 2g that he was unknowingly venting and it had similiar problems, but he was not trying to get over 105mph, his was choking around 65mph in 4th. But as turbogsx mentioned we are just speculating until we get some more info.

rite now im not running boost rite now due to the turbo broke a wile back. about 2 years ago i had bought the car and be4 that it was in a car wreck. the was done 4 and they out a 1991 eagle talon motor tranys wiring harness and ecu and fuel relay. about a year ago that motor went out due to the timming belt. i had a motor sitting around it was from a 1990 plymoth laser i think RS not shure it was turbo so i put it in but the turbo didnt spin so i made it a 2.0 n/t.it ran good i drove it for 2 months and i went to the track to so i would have a time slip from when i had a stock car then i will get one when im doing mods to see who my times every. all i have is coil over and a short ram from ebay. when im at the track it hits 105 and does nutin at all it just sits at 105

Due to the spelling, grammar, and punctuation issues, the lack of information after several members have asked specific questions, and the general vagueness of the problem, I'm shutting this one down.

OP, if I'm understanding your posts, you have an ebay short ram intake, are currently running in non-turbo form, and are somehow maxing out at 105mph at the track. Why don't I believe that you're really at the track when you're doing this?

I advise you use Firefox's or Internet Explorer's spellchecker to spell-check your posts from now on, as Rule #6 suggests. It will make everything much clearer to those you're asking help from.
