I'm 100 miles from my shop and am going to be looking at a car with a theoretical bad fuel pump. I am going to check for engine codes, if I hear the pump starting up, and if it is getting voltage. If it is getting voltage and sounds like it is starting, how can I check pressure without a tester. Just to know I'm getting something? Just pull the plugs and see if I get something in the cylinders?

that will work to an extent you wont know the pressure but you will at least know your getting fuel.

i would pull off the fuel line and see if you got gas coming out of it , before resorting to checking the pressure. i know auto parts stores usally carry fuel pressure gauge kits. might want to stop and pick one of those up.

Already own a test kit, I'm just away from home right now. And withe the fuel pressure these cars should produce, I'd hate to have the line off with it working. I think by doing it in the cylinder it will be less, and more controlled.
