hey guys, started my car up for the first time in 2 months, it was spitting and sputtering, so figured i had a bad spark plug...since i recently got my new valve cover back i though i would put in on...well guys i pulled off the the stock cover and found this...

the guy i boutgh this car from really beat the hell out of it...but i took it upon myself to bring her back to life...lots of work has been done, but theres still a ton more...this just adds to the mix...

looks oil deprived to me, since ive owned her shes had new oil every month (when on the road), i only drove her for about 3 months then put her away for the winter...

so with that said, the new cover is way WAY nicer, is there anything i can do about the cams, springs, etc.? To be frank, i just dont know whats wrong, i just nkow something is wrong. (get what i mean)

i may be a proven member but this is the first time ive really started to work on the engine, boilt ons only give you so much knowledge...

Thankx guys.

That looks normal to me from all the stock valve covers I have pulled off. All have been on cars with 90k or more. It just looks stained from the oil and heat.

The engine in my GST only has 48,000 on it, but it still had some staining on the bottom of the original valve cover. Run some seafoam or Auto RX in with your oil and it will clean your engine up real nice on the inside.
What I do know about that depositing of oil like that is it will happen more often with cheap oil, say O'Reily brand or something of the sort. If the previous owner was a real idiot then maybe he just put whatever was cheapest in there, causing it to be more than normal.

That looks, like a regular head and valve cover to me. That's what oil and heat does, when you use the car oftenly, regardless, if you do regular oil changes or not.

LOL no, not afriad, im working on fixing that problem as well (MCB)...got lots of problems, 23psi is WAY to much...but that will change...

i was just kinda worried as to why it would be that burned up, guess i got all worked up for no reason...
