my goal is to run 32psi on race gas at the track and i want to make sure that the head gasket is not going to go again because this is my daily driver around town i will be running 22psi.
Here are the choices:
HKS mls
cometic mls
mitsu mls
mitsu composite
also should i oring the head or the block and with what head gasket?
my bottom end was just redone last year now im redoing the top i am going to get the head decked smooth. I am going to be running ARP studs. please explain to me what would be the easiest and also the most cost effective. also since this is my daily driver i want it to seal very good so i dont have to take the head off again. thank you

sbr bastard 20g

i have the td05h bastard 20g running 24 daily on pump and have for the last 2 years...im just running a regular cometic with arp's...no problems yet. made over 400whp too. You shouldnt have to o ring it. You can for a sure shot bet that it wont pop a hg but you shouldnt have too.

You should be well prepared w/a cometic MLS hg w/the arp head studs. Cometic is cheaper than the Mitsu. You'll be fine w/a milled head. Just make sure to clean the block deck and if needed sand down w/a very fine (2000, not sure) grit sand paper w/an aluminum bar. I had Zero leaks w/the MLS headgasket after I milled the head and scraped off the block deck w/a razor blade. No need for copper spray. Also, once a MLS headgasket is installed, it shouldn't be reused b/c some of the coating on the gasket is removed and attached to the block/head and the sealing grooves around the cylinders of the gaskets are pressed once the head is torqued on to the block. Good luck :thumb:

When in the prodution year was your 1992 built? Some have 6-bolt blocks. How to quickly tell a 6bolt and 7bolt engine apart. Many take their stock 6-bolt head bolts to 22 psi with the oem headgasket (including me). The 6-bolt head bolts are wider.

That means that an upgrade will be wider as well. I beat the he!! out of my 6-bolt arp head studs w/ a fel-pro composite (30 psi, 60-1, fp2Xs, PLENTY of cylinder pressure) all last season daily. Still going strong and still daily driven, but with the small16g now.

ARPs and a non-mls is fine for ocasional track at 28-30ish psi and mostly daily driven 20ish psi. You can still pop your gasket with less knock than a MLS headgasket. Though it may be a little more "finicky", granading a piston is avoided. A blown engine requires alot more downtime. IMHO, a daily driver should have ample failsafes built in.
