I have the Greddy Type S bov. Ever since I replaced the bov with the type s, it is not holding boost whatever I do. I opened the bov up and checked the diaphram and it is perfect, the springs seem fine. I feel like the valve opens up during boost and the car has no power. I wanted to replace the springs, so I call up Greddy and they say they don't sell the springs for there has never been a problem with the springs. They refuse to sell it to me. I tried the single spring mod but it still doesn't hold boost and flutters. I tried hooking up the lower nipple, still didn't hold boost. I've done plenty of research and every site I've been to recommends the single spring mod, but doesn't seem to help me, unless I'm doing it wrong. Please help.

Put the stock one back on and see if you can make boost, also make sure you bov line isnt tee'd off your boost controller.

Your BOV should be a dedicated line. You can have it teed, which in my opinion did not make a big difference for me. However, it should give you a more accurate reading and the BOV should open when its told. With that said, it sounds more or less like a leak at the bov. Did you replace the gasket or have the line from the source on all the way. Also, if you do have it teed, get rid of that. Find a pressure source after the turbo, such as the j pipe for a place to get a boost reading for the BC and wastegate. I hope you find your problem.

Do a boost leak test (Everybody's best friend) to see if the B.O.V. is leaking. Also If it flutters when you release of the gas pedal the spring is set too low try to loosen iit just a bit with the screw on top. Do the boost leak test 1st! this will let you tell you rite off the bat if its leaking or not, or if you have a boost leak elsewhere.

My type-S has been whooped on for 4 years now...20-25 psi for 3 years and 30 psi for about a year now! NO LEAKING! I believe these suckers are only rated to handle maybe 22psi But I never saw a problem with it yet, so for now it stays.

Thanks for the replies. I do have it recirculated for when I had it venting to atmosphere, the valve would open up during boost and the car would bog. I will do a boost leak test soon, I just figured that the leak is coming from the bov itself for thats the only thing I changed. I put a metal gasket this time and I used a little bit of rtv sealant, but I made sure I put it on right so it doesn't get sucked into the throttle body. Actually now that I think about it I did have the lower nipple connected to the turbo/wastegate line, which was also connected to the mbc, it held really good. So I decided to take it on the freeway. I took it on the freeway and let er rip. It was pulling great untill the car felt like it hit a wall and slammed on the breaks, and saw a five foot flame shoot out the exhaust. I was then told that this was fuel cut. I was running 16 psi at the time. So you guys suggest a boost leak test, and tee is off to the J pipe? Correct me if I'm wrong but the J pipe is the lower inner cooler pipe right? Does anyone have any pictures of the J pipe teed off to the bov? I want to see how about going to do it properly. I thought the turbo/wastegate line was a dedicated line? I guess it does make sense to tee it off to a dedicated line for it will use the boost to push down the valve through the lower nipple right? Thanks for all the help guys.

Holy crap. Thats tight, wish my could do that. So if it flutters then thats compressor surge? But my car wasn't bogging or hesitating?
