Last night I was driving home and I noticed my oil light come on. Didn't know what was going on but I was close to my house so I tried to get it home. Well it didn't make it. So today I went back, added oil and started it up. Immediately saw my quart of oil just flying out from underneath the car. Get it in the garage and jack it up, son of a bi*** my oil filter was loose.
Now, I've had the same oil filter on the car for over 1500 miles. I've checked the tightness every time I've been under the car and it was fine every time. This is not a problem due to user-error, this is a product defect. It was a 1G Midcroguard filter on my 2G Tsi AWD. This really pisses me off because I'm selling the car when I get back in town on the 31st, and now my engine might be gone.
It happened under a somewhat heavy load at 4k rpms. Before that, I was boosting just fine all around the powerband. Come to think of it, I think I do remember hearing a popping noise when the oil light came on. Are these cars designed to die and not start when the oil light is on? If so thank god I might be saved here.
Anyways.. what should I do if my motor is toast? I will seriously sue the company if I have to because this is bullshit. It's nothing I did wrong, just a lame ass product they sold me. It just really stumps me because it's been on the car for 1500 miles, and I change the oil about every 2000. If this would have happened say the first time I started the damn car up, it'd be understandable.
Really hope I'm not at my own pockets with this one.. If I am I'm probably just going to part this stupid ass car out. What really sucks is I just fixed all the problems the car had a couple of days ago, and now this. Seriously, it runs for about 3 days, then its on jackstands for the same time or even longer.
Merry Christmas to me huh?

. Oh yes the engine DOES NOT have a low oil pressure cutout.
Tigthen the center bolt (15/16" wrench) reinstall the oil filter and oil it up and start it. See if it makes any nasty noises. If yes you have problems, if no drive it for a couple hunderd miles then remove the oil filter and cut it open to see if it made metal if none let it run if yes somthing is going away.
a HARD HEAD makes for a SOFT ASS... - THAT kinda PERSONAL insulting stuff... If you think I crossed the line do your duty & report my Post, no hard feelings here.
