Okay, I get my head back from the shop in a couple hours. I'm gonna need to do the timing belt but don't have the threaded tensioning tool. So here's the deal. I have no battery tie down bolt, no hardware store in my area has the correct size threaded rod, and I've tried to do the belt before without this tool and wound up taking it to a shop cause I couldn't do it. I've look at home depot, lowe's, friedman's, etc. They all have threaded rod, just no metric sizes that are even close. I've also been searching here for about a week and still no answer.

What options do I have? Only thing I can think of is take the tensioner off, compress it with a c clamp, re-install it, then try to get the tensioner pulley in the "right spot" before I pull the pin on the hydraulic tensioner. This just seems like it would be a lot of frustrating trial and error, though.

Any ideas?

Dude - between your house & the Shop where your Head is there's a piece of 8MM Allthread - California is not a 3rd World Country - YET... In fact there may be a piece at the SHOP

Agreed, however, I just spoke with the machine shop. They don't have any allthread and don't know where to find 8mm. So now I guess my question would be where did you guys find yours? I have already searched, as stated above, and I understand there's allthread around here somewhere. But I'm still asking cause there's still no answer.

Thanks

I seriously doubt you can't find metric threaded rod in california, nor can you find a battery bolt in the junk yard. I'd call a hardware store, and when they say they don't have it, ask them who would. As them if they know someone who would. In my area theres a hardware store that just carries odd fastners.

eBay Motors: MITSUBISHI TIMING BELT INSTALL TOOL 4G63T ECLIPSE EVO (item 140192294699 end time Dec-28-07 16:50:47 PST)

You can buy it there, or I'm sure you could get it from a mitsubishi dealership. Like said above, it's not an option.

Alrighty then, I guess I'll keep looking like I have been. Mitsubishi won't sell the tool. I guess I could get the battery tie down bolt from them tho.

Thanks anyways.
