my friend was driving today and his 91 tsi just quit. After getting it home, we took the spark plugs out....He turned the crank pully just a little and gas started coming out the exhaust and exhaust manifold through a few different gaskets. Also tons of gas came up onto the valve cover(like flooded the valve cover).....not sure whats going on here

IF i understood that correctly, gas is in your oil passageways. Theres a couple ways that happens, but the main thing is to rinse out the motor with mineral spirits. Gas strips all the oil, so dont try to start it. Mineral spirits will flush out all the gas, plus add some lubrication. After all the gas is flushed out, put in fresh oil. Let the car run for 10-15 minutes, then change the oil (seems like a waste doesnt it) The two oil changes is crucial to circulate all the mineral spirits out. Next look to see how fuel got in there, and hope you don't need all new bearings.

well im the person that he posted this for.. what i can see there is just fuel on the top side of the motor the oil doesnt look milkie at all... the only mods to the fuel system is 255pump and 680ccs. the car just has gas everywhere and its alot... theres gas that made it all the way down my 3 in exhost through my cat... its crazy theres so much.... but like i said i think its just on top.. im going to check and see if my injectors are stuck and i still have the stock fpr so i need to look at that also but if anyone knows whats up with this that would be awsome...lmk what u think

Well, as long as it's not in your oil :thumb:

It may be your 255 pump overpowered your fpr, and fuel pressure jumped up, and started pouring into your engine and flooded it. If that the case, let all the gas evaporate, put in an aftermarket fpr, and start her up.

well after looking at it i just saw that there was gas in the cylinder closest to the pulleys (#1 i think) and i can watch the piston when turning it over by hand and the gas is not coming out so i don't think that the exhaust valve is opening at all... and then when looking into the valve cover i can see that there is gas in there.... can anyone give me an idea on why or how this happened? and maybe a way to fix it... im going to change the oil and clean it out... and take the valve cover off.

First of all why are you running a bigger fuel pump and 680cc injectors on a stock FPR. Where is the logic in that?? why don't you start by getting an adjustable fpr and set your base fuel pressure to the correct amount, then further troubleshoot from there if the issue still continues.

My guess from FIRST HAND experience is a dying ECU - It's very common for a dying Alternator Voltage Regulator to fail to high voltage long enough to take out the chips that control the Injectors & fail to WOT Injector pulse - BEWARE - You can FLOOD entire Crankcase with Gas - You can bend a Rod trying to Compress Gas - You can turn your Shop Vac into a Flame Thrower sucking the gas out of the Combustion Chambers - You can change Oil & Flush & then when you spin in over after all that Flood the Crankcase with Gas all over again & waste all that Oil & Filter - Been there, Done all the above... Bought the ECU - Good Luck~!

Those blue things on ECU are power resistors for the injector circuit - The green ones are capacitors for the injector circuit - The black thing is a SIP resistor pack.

an injector could be staying open buuuuttt sounds to me like an exhaust valve is stuck open, bent a valve, bad spring..causing gas to be everywhere....do a compression test n check it out.... i dont think anything is wrong with the ecu..it dosent sound electrical.... also i do agree to get a fpr, a 255 and bigger injectors will put a beating on that stock fpr...if the car starts does it backfire or miss?

alrighy well here is what i got... the car doesnt run... it wont start b/c there is so much fuel it comes outa the turbo gaskit on the exhost man... then i just pulled the hole fuel system out and put it all back in and its fine... the cyl dont fill full of fuel... so then i pull off my valve cover to take a look at how much fuel is in there... so when i pull it off i look at the #2 cyl and theres no rockers on the right hand side of the intake... i was like wtf LOL so could that also be my problem?

the cylinders filling with fuel and when the exhaust side is opening all that unburned fuel is just getting pushed out and some is staying in the cylinder....after you get the rocker back on do a compression test to make sure that the valve wasnt damaged and is sealing right...get that fixed asap:thumb:

i deff will prob tomorrow i have 2 work... anyone know the best way 2 get all the oil/gas out of the motor i was told not 2 use that minral spirit stuff idk y so just lmk thnx

i dont see why mineral spirts would hurt but i wouldnt put anything in my engine becides oil, just drain the oil and leave the drain plug off and oil cap for bout 2 hours, the gas for the most part will evaporate then put new oil in, let it run for 5 minutes and change it again and you should be fine everything should come out.

Well the gas eats away the oil, the only reason I mentioned mineral spirits was if gas was in his oil system. The mineral spirits would take care of the gas before you added new oil.

yea but idk isnt that stuff like lacker thiner? i cant see that being good on my gaskits and seals... idk i think im just going to do a few runs of oil through her
