Sault Ste. Marie,
Hi

I just bought a 97 Eagle Talon TSI AWD and my buddies and I like to race, Now the fastest car in our group is a '93 Pontiac Trans Am.

My car is completely stock with around 65k on the clock but the T/A has intake, headers, 4" exhaust... full boltons pretty much. I am wondering what kind of money and mods I would need to drop to keep up with it? I do have money to spend but im looking least amount of money for the biggest gains.

Last time he went down the local 1/4 he did high 12s on street tires. He might be getting a nitrous oxide system installed this summer aswell.

Thanks for your help.

As far as i know there's guids on here some where about the path to take to upgrade. Do it right and in order or you will end with either a poorly running car with a lot of money in it or a blown up car with a lot of money in it.

But when it comes to fuel and turbo mods, get at least a walbro 190lph pump and a EVOIII big 16G turbo. something simple like an AFC for basic fuel managementand some 55 injectors to go along with it. Other than those few parts (which should gaurantee enough power to smoke that TA) make sure you do all "supporting mods" or the car isn't going to last long. You have AWD as an advantage, he'll need slicks to keep up with you on the launch when you could be running the crappiest street tire there is. If you can't find the "upgrade path" on here, which i hear is excellent, i'm just too modded to need it. But. would still like to read it because there's always something you can learn or may have missed.

Just plan ahead for your total goal of power and streetability when picking your major components like turbo, fuel pump, intercooler and if you need to "build" the bottom end of the motor to get where you want to be.

Most people are happy with simple upgrades, a big 16g, some 550 injectors and an AFC with a front mount intercooler thrown in the mix. But i will repeat one last time.. DO NOT skimp or skip any of the basics in the mod recipe/list.

To beat a 93 trans am, all you really need is a big 16g, 190 fuel pump, and bolt ons. Like exhaust and intake. ANd then learn how to launch and you will beat him. If you want to do it the right way, do the upgrade path. My list is if you dont want to wait.

Just put a 150 shot on your car and you will be good. Make sure the car is all stock though.

Seriously, search a little....
