Okay, so I currently have the motor out and everything out of my car, and it has up till now been sitting in my climate controlled garage. Well, I need to pull it outside because I have a friend's car I need to work on. Well, since I just purchased the car, it had a small odor that I was allowing to air out with the windows partially down, but now that I am moving it outside I need to roll them up. I tried just hooking the battery up to the regular terminals and nothing happened, so I suppose I have to have the other grounds, or possibly the alternator hooked up to get it to work. What is necessary to do this?

P.S. I tried numerous batteries to make sure mine just wasn't dead.

You need to connect the negative terminal of the battery to the chassis ground and connect the positive terminal of the battery to the fuse box wires.
