1g '92gsx: 6bolt to 7bolt shortblock swap?

I'm very sorry if this shouldn't go in "Extreme Tuning", but it seemed a little too complicated for the general forums. Feel free to move it there if necessary.

I've got an early '92 Eclipse GSX, 6-bolt (pre-April'92), which threw a rod. I'm thinking of buying a 7-bolt shortblock from a '93 GSX, since I found one cheap. The '93 head is not available. I'd like to keep the existing '92 head, tranny, turbo, x-fer case, etc.

So far, after talking to several local DSM gurus and three Mitsubishi dealer-mechanics, I've come up with about three different answers, hence the confusion! So far, it looks like I (only?) need:

New '93 7-bolt flywheel, new overhaul gasket-set. What else do I need?

Does the cylinder Head, manifolds, Pressure-plate, clutch, input shaft, tranny-housing pattern, oil-pump, oil-cooler (housing?), gaskets, clutch linkage, etc. remain the same through the mid-year '92?

Also who can tell me more about the input shaft (23-spline vs. 24-spline?)

If it's much more complicated, should I just be looking for a complete (6-bolt) longblock instead? I'm not a DSM guru, so any help and advice is appreciated. I've already been going through the various DSM faq's also, but without luck for something this specialized. Thanks much!

get a 6bolt man... personally swapping in a 7bolt wouldn't be worth it and when u add the cost of the 7bolt flywheel in and all the odds and ends of "converting" it, i'd stick with a 6botl...most ppl PREFER 6bolt OVER anything....hope this helps
 
No this isn't a the right forum. Thread moved.

The 1G 7-bolt block is a direct swap. Just bolt your pieces on and run it. A 1G 7-bolt is NOT the same as a 2G 7-bolt.

If you can afford it build up your 6-bolt. If you need it right away for cheap, get a running 1G 7-bolt and drop it in and save the 6-bolt for a future build up.

Like I said, the confusion continues. Heheh. Every different person gives me a different answer.

Here's what I THINK I need so far, to put this 1g (post April'92) 7-bolt short-block (only) into the 1g (pre April'92) 6-bolt car.

I'm going to use the head, tranny, etc. off the pre (6-bolt) car.

All I should need (supposably) is: '93 oil-pump, oil-pan, 7-bolt flywheel. Everything else is the same.

Hopefully this is correct, I've asked about 4 Mitsu. mechanics, and 4 local DSM gurus now and NONE of them will agree for sure. I hope I don't get into a money-pit. :(
