i have a tranny out of a 92 fwd turbo manual...i was getting ready to sell it is the transmission the same thats in the 2g? i know you can use the same clutch no matter the year so i was figuring that they are basically the same...someone wanted to buy it they had a 98 they were putting it into though so i didn't know

The 1G FWD transmission is different from the 2G transmission in the location of the engine/transmission mounts, and the bellhousing has an extra bolt on the 2G.

The internals can be used in a 95-99 FWD transmission, but not the bell housing or the case; unless you want to do a decent amount of modification to attach the transmission to the front/rear/passenger side mounts. The vehicle speed sensor is also different.

As well, the clutch pressure plate and clutch disk are the same for all 90-99 AWD or FWD DSM's, but the flywheels are different from 90-92 (6-bolt), and 93-94 (6-bolt or 7-bolt), and 95-99 (7-bolt). As well the flywheels are different between FWD and AWD models.

So if you intend on selling this guy your clutch (if he is a 2G FWD), the pressure plate and disk will work, but he will have to resurface and reuse his flywheel.

Either way, I would reccomend using a NEW pressure plate and clutch disk with a resurfaced or new aftermarket flywheel; it is added insurance.

So, from all of this; you should be stating that you are selling a 1G FWD 5-speed transmission. It will work in 1990-1994 4G63 Turbo FWD vehicles.
