O2 Sensor heater simulation (DSM Link or resistors)
Im tring to figure out if DSM LINK acually makes it so the ECU doesnt look for the P0135 code for the 02 sensor heat circuit malfuction, or it only does the O2 signal "catalyst effiencency" Engine Light?((That means people just get the P0135 code when they remove the rear 02 sensor with DSM LINK.)) I removed mine because of custom exhaust and didnt want to weld in the bung so, I might just soilder some resistors to simulate a heater, but I hear they get hot and dangerous. What are my options?

I tryed to build something that simulated the rear o2 sensor, the resistors on the heater wires did get extremely hot and I still got a cel for no cat. But with dsm link it sounds like you would be blocking that out. I have heard of people wrapping the sensor in tin foil and zip tieing it under the car. You could try that
I have DSMLINK and I have my WBo2 sensor connected to the rear o2 sensor output for loggging purposes. DSMLINK can by-pass the ECU from checking rear o2 sensor.
That's an expensive route to take just to make a CEL disappear though. If you just want the CEL to go away there is a tech right up on how to make your own o2 simulator here.
I would not recommend using that o2 simulator. Resistor become extremely hot and you still get a cel bc the o2 signal does not cycle like it would in the exhaust.
I used that above link to simulate the rear o2. I did however use 4 of those 50ohm resistors to spread the heat out. The more the better. I encased all of it in an old hard drive shell. o2SIM
I have yet to get a CEL and would only use it if needed for inspection. The outside of the case feels like a hot cup of coffee, so I don't believe heat to be a big problem. I just have it laying on the floor in front of my seat.
I have my WB 0-5 V signal going into my Rear O2 0-1V which would always cause a lean condition code. I have DSMLink setup to ignore the code. I think it just bypasses the smog code which inspects the rear O2 and the front O2 and determines the Oxygen and conditions in the Cat.
I acually found a site that sells a heater resistor to simulate the heater on the o2 sensor... Heater Resistor [res-heater] - $10.00 : O2 Simulator, E-commerce I know of one person that bought it, but he hasn't installed it yet. maybe I will just weld a bung on the outside of my exhaust so I dont get the heater circuit code and it also wont restrict the flow of my exhaust(I know it doesnt effect that much, but I hate drilling a hole in my exhaust when I dont need to) If anyone has purchased this let me know if it gets very hot like the other resistors or if its got somthing in it because its specifically for the heat.
split did you do the same thing and wrap the 02 up and left it or is your in the bung?
I welded a new bung on to the downpipe. It is just above the bend that is before the flex pipe, on the vertical section. I left the rear O2 in the rear bung and it is connected. At the ECU, I cut the rear O2 signal line and spliced in the WB signal line.
Here are some photos. The first one has the WB in the bottom lower part of the picture. THis is directly under the turbo near the oil return. Second is the WB obviously in the lower left.
is it possible for someone to see how DSM Link does it.. I'm getting a keydriver chiip and he says he cant disable the heater code check, but is DSM Link can do it I'm sure he could to... Maybe a link to what DSM links codes are?
